The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to 470 students in grades 6 through 12, including 80 international students. The School seeks an experienced Senior Network Administrator to support the School’s Mission to graduate students with a “global perspective.” This is a full-time, year-round position reporting to the IT Director.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing and resolving network hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes to root cause level
- Assessing performance of network hardware, software, and communications systems.
- Conducting on-going network system audits to evaluate the utility and efficiency of the system's hardware, software, and communications components.
- Designing, configuring, implementing and monitoring an enterprise environment with appropriate hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and communications components to support business requirements.
- Evaluating and recommending network software and hardware for the enterprise system.
- Writing and/or maintaining up-to-date documentation for network systems and operational procedures.
- Developing and maintaining disaster recovery procedures for the network and network resources.
- Consulting with users and management conducting information assessments to determine user needs and to define network solutions to meet user requirements.
- Actively integrating Professional Standards and Service Standards into daily interactions.
- Attending meetings and school events, as assigned.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience configuring and managing Firewalls, Routers, Switches and WLAN.
- In-depth knowledge of network/internet protocols/services such as IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, VoIP, and NAT.
- Experience with network monitoring, management and documentation platforms such as Spiceworks, Solarwinds, What’s Up Gold, PRTG or NetFlow.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Server technologies, including, but not limited to, Server 2003/2008/2008R2, Exchange 2010, Certificate Services.
- Must have excellent troubleshooting, organizational and communication skills.
- Must be able to work with a wide range of technologies.
- Must be able to interface with IT team and end users for training, implementation of new processes, and daily issues.
- Experience in specifying projects and working with others to develop specifications
- Proactive with clear ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
