Communities In Schools is the nation's largest dropout prevention organization. The mission of Communities In Schools is to champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life. To thrive, children need access to the basics: adult guidance, help with homework, proper nutrition and preventative health care. Unfortunately many kids lack these essentials. These are the kids who are most likely to fall behind and once behind, often drop out. At Communities In Schools, we focus on meeting these core needs; needs that can often be overlooked by traditional support programs. We work closely with local school districts, social service organizations and businesses to connect schools with the resources that facilitate academic success and the development of important life skills. Communities In Schools makes a difference for children in the schools it serves. While many organizations are working to improve student outcomes, Communities In Schools, through coordination of services, is proven to be more effective.
