JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Mental Health Therapist -- Cantonese- or Vietnamese-speaking preferred
DEPARTMENT: Behavioral Health Program
PURPOSE: To provide culturally competent and clinically effective counseling and psychotherapy services to clients of ACRS' Private Practice Program (PPP) seeking mental health counseling. Performs services in compliance with agency policies and with contract and regulatory standards and requirement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Utilizes simple and advanced psychotherapeutic treatment methods to assess and treat individuals presenting with wide range of mental health and/or psychosocial disorders in individual, couples, family and group settings. This may include but is not limited to: helping client develop insight in to themselves, their relationships and their lives; providing psychological education regarding communication skills, anger management skills, and social skills; guiding clients in the development of skills and strategies to cope with their problems.
2. Conducts comprehensive psychological diagnostic assessment addressing numerous life domains utilizing interviews, support system, available clinical records, observations and possibly tests. Develops and implements collaborative comprehensive treatment plan with clearly identified goals. Modifies treatment plan as needed to reflect changes in client's status and progress. Ongoing evaluation of effectiveness of treatment plan and modalities in making progress towards identified goals. Modifies plan and modality as appropriate.
3. Prepares and maintains all required treatment records and reports. Maintains confidentiality of records. Adheres to program standards for documentation. Complies with administrative documentation and fee collection protocols.
4. Collaborates with other treatment providers as needed to ensure appropriate care for client. Collaborate with other stakeholders appropriate in client care including but not limited to family, probation officers, schools and court. Provides counseling and psychological education to family members to assist them in understanding, managing and supporting client.
5. Provides crisis intervention as needed. Providesback up when case coverage is needed.
6. Attends and utilizes individual, group supervision and consultation meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's or doctoral degree in social work or social/behavioral science;
AND
licensure to provide mental health counseling in the State of Washington;
AND
Minimum three years post-graduate degree experience providing direct services to clients with mental illness.
• Therapists working with youth must meet WA State criteria to be Youth Mental Health Specialist
• Training and experience in various theoretical orientations including but not limited to family systems, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
• Knowledge of clinical and cultural competence treating APA population required.
• Knowledge and understanding of: characteristics of mental and emotional illness; current social/economic problems; clinical interview techniques; individual and group behavior; and simple and advanced treatment methods.
• Ability to: work as a team member with professional and support staff; analyze and draw conclusions from case records; apply casework principles to individual situations; and exercise judgment and organize multiple tasks.
• Ability to understand, speak, write, and read Cantonese or Vietnamese and English is preferred.

• Must not have own private practice.
• Ability to treat adults, couples and families
• Ability to work independently
• Flexibility and willingness to expand knowledge and clinical skills
• Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed based on client needs.
STATUS: Part-time, based on caseload.
SALARY: Fee for service, based on caseload. Not part of existing salary structure.
