Thrive by Five Washington mobilizes public and private partners to advance the development and learning of children birth to five. Position Purpose:
This position contributes to the overall mission of the organization by providing administrative and data management support to the Grants Management team.

Major Functions:
  • Process grant proposals and review for eligibility compliance.
  • Track and review progress reports for completeness, including budget monitoring and fulfillment of grant requirements.
  • Generate correspondence, including declination and award letters, to applicants and grantees.
  • Respond to applicant and grantee administrative inquiries.
  • Administer the grants database (MicroEdge Gifts) and ensure the integrity and completeness of each grant record, from initial request to grant close-out; including the continual coding and updating of grant records..
  • Assist the Grants Manager in all tasks related to the execution of grantmaking cycles, including preparation of review materials and data visualizations to reflect the current state of grantmaking and recommendations.
  • Follow up with grantees on compliance requirements (e.g. overdue reports, annual forms, etc.).
  • Assist Grants Manager in operationalizing new grantmaking systems and processes, including ongoing system and process improvements.
  • Assist Grants Manager with long-range planning efforts such as preparing an annual grants management calendar to inform all staff about key RFP deadlines.
  • Assist Grants Manager in providing orientation and on-going training to program staff about the grantmaking process, including Gifts training and technical assistance, as needed.
  • Other special projects, as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Investment in Thrive by Five Washington’s Mission;
  • College degree and at least 2+ years of experience in the non-profit sector, preferably in grants administration or related function;
  • Effective time management; skillful multi-tasking, and prioritizing to meet competing deadlines;
  • Impeccable attention to detail, highly organized, and systematic;
  • Effective problem-solving, especially in working with others to reach reasonable, sound solutions;
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interface with all levels within the organization;
  • A team player; proactive, independent thinker with a flexible/adaptable approach;
  • Sound judgment with regard to budget, program, and communication issues; discreet in handling confidential matters;
  • Excellent written, verbal, research, and editing skills; and
  • Proven abilities in analytical, database, and reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GIFTS or other complex database information systems
  • Passion for data management
  • Basic understanding of non-profit budgets
