We are looking for an ENERGETIC and PERSONABLE adult to work with YOUNG PEOPLE ages 9-21 at the Dale Turner Family YMCA in Shoreline. This individual would work M-F from 5-9pm and would be the lead Youth Development staff during peak hours that teens, tweens and young adults are in the facility. Someone comfortable playing basketball/ sports, able to positively redirect behavior, and build meaningful relationships with youth is highly desired.
This individual would have 2 specific roles:
• Youth Center Drop In: Supervise our Drop In program in the Youth Development Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
This is a free space open to all youth grades 4-12 regardless of YMCA membership. Drop in shifts would be Tuesday and Wed from 5-9pm in the Youth Development Center.
• Youth Development Facility Outreach: We have a high volume of youth who come to the Y regularly to play basketball, work out and hang out with friends.
We are seeking a staff person who could build relationships, redirect behavior, and provide general guidance to keep youth positively on track at the YMCA. They would also be responsible for helping connect these teens to other programs and opportunities within the Y community. Facility shifts would be Monday, Thursday & Friday from 5-9pm throughout the Dale Turner Family YMCA.
Candidates must be comfortable ACTIVELY ENGAGING with teens, be a mature adult role model & know how to set appropriate and fair boundaries with youth. Must be able to build relationships, redirect behavior, and communicate well with individuals of all ages. Applicants must be at least 20 yrs old. Male candidates as well as individuals of color are strongly encouraged to apply, however final decision will be based on the most qualified candidate.
