YouthForce Program Director (Seattle)

YouthForce (YF) is educational employment program at Boys & Girls Clubs of King County (BGCKC). YouthForce provides underserved teens with the teamwork, leadership and career competencies needed to reach their full potential through unique mentored internship programs with local area companies and a structured learning curriculum.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
As an ambassador and role model for local teens, this position is responsible for managing the Career Internship Program (CIP) in its delivery of a broad range of teen employment and youth development services. Will develop, oversee, and lead the CIP to ensure quality programming while conducting day to day operations of the program including recruiting, hiring and managing teen employee interns with special emphasis on youth development. Match teens with relevant internship positions with local companies and support their growth of basic professional skills and academic success through ongoing support, career education, and coaching. Participate in all applicable BGCKC events and programs and collaborate with BGCK Club staff. Work in partnership with the YouthForce Director to ensure programming goals and benchmarks are met.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Professional Skills and Education
• Four year degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Social Services, or related field from an accredited college or university. MSW or youth development related degree encouraged
• Five plus years experience working with high school age youth and parental interaction
• Three years management experience, including hiring, training and supervising staff
• Knowledge and/or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency, Boys & Girls Club experience preferred
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to learn and implement new ideas for the good of the organization
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
TEEN DEVELOPMENT
• Knowledge of teen development principles and strategies, and ability to motivate youth in a positive way
• Capacity to effectively manage compassionate relationships with a diverse population/group of teens and adults
• Passion for working with teens from diverse backgrounds while providing support and resources that encourage and mentor them through their professional development as employees and leaders
SAFETY
• Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program, must be 21 years old or older to drive Club owned and operated vehicles
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
• Successful completion of National Criminal History and Background Check
LEADERSHIP & SERVICE DELIVERY
• Responsive to needs and requests of teens and business partners, as well as teens' parents/guardian
• Good organization and attention to detail, professional presence, strong customer relations skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Proven experience working with partner agencies, community building, and business acumen
• Flexible personality with the professional composure to make critical decisions through conflict resolution and mediation skills
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
• Background in large project or event planning helpful
• A personal and professional dedication to providing world class customer service
• Personality traits that lend themselves to success in this position include patience, a sense of humor, flexibility, and energetic, with a keen sense of integral cultural awareness
