POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides child development services to children and parents at a drop-in child care program; develops daily lesson plans for children in classroom to promote their development. Attends parent education activities; prepares detailed and accurate reporting documents. Performs and oversees daily on-site childcare duties. As a team leader, provides support and mentoring to other teachers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Daily Program: Works with teaching team to construct a daily schedule of classroom routines and activities Prepares and implements lesson plans that are based on each child’s developmental needs and includes health and nutrition activities

·Interaction with Children and Families: Interacts positively with all children to support their learning and meets their emotional needs Communicates regularly and respectfully with families

·Individualizing: Makes written observations of individual children Provides a curriculum and environment, including a multi-cultural environment, which meets the needs of every child in the drop-in center

·Training Assistants and Volunteers: Provides on the job technical support to assistant educators Recruits and trains volunteers for the classroom

·Interdisciplinary Planning: Participates as a team member in interdisciplinary planning for children and families, and other cross-component coordination efforts

·Parent Involvement: Participates in, encourages and supports family involvement in all aspects of the program

·Record Keeping: Maintains complete records on each child, stored in a confidential manner

·Staff Training: Attends regional trainings and other staff in-service training’s

·Meals: With assistant teacher, plans sets-up and prepares meals as appropriate; eats family style meals with the children

·Expected to attend evening meetings

·Advocates for the values of a diverse population within CHSW and the Community

·Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
