Position Summary

The Youth Venture Program Coordinator will support and implement the strategic vision around Ashoka Seattle’s Youth Venture program. The Youth Venture Program Coordinator will be responsible for leading strategies around program support and expansion. The individual will contribute to the broader efforts of Ashoka Seattle to catalyze social progress in the Puget Sound region. The Youth Venture Program Coordinator reports directly to the Program Director.

Organization Description

Ashoka Seattle is working to transform Seattle into an Everyone a ChangemakerTM City, building a model for Ashoka offices around the world. The mission of Ashoka Seattle is to catalyze citizen entrepreneurs to address the most pressing social needs of the region. The Ashoka Seattle team is committed to employing its core values of empathy, teamwork, leadership, and Changemaking in an entrepreneurial setting to achieve its goals. The main programmatic focus for Ashoka Seattle is on Youth Venture, with all additional programs stemming from its work to provide a transformational experience for young people in and around Seattle.

Ashoka’s Youth Venture is building a movement of young changemakers who will redefine the role of young people in society as leaders of social change. Youth Venture inspires and invests in teams of young people (ages 12-20) to create and launch their own sustainable, community-benefiting Ventures. Youth Venture provides guidance, coaching and up to $1,000 in seed funding to help young people turn their ideas for social change into reality.

Responsibilities

Youth Venture Program Coordinator responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Manage and continuously improve program partnerships and initiatives:
  • Work with community partners to expand impact through existing initiatives
  • Support existing relationships and cultivate new relationships to reach more students at partner schools
  • Gather insights to improve the experience partners have working with Youth Venture program representatives
  • Collaborate with the Youth Venture Program Director to create and implement deliberate partnership management strategies
  • Manage Youth Venture Program Associates to ensure all existing partnerships and relationships are leading to desired and expected outcomes
  • Develop a college program to involve university students in Youth Venture opportunities
  • Plan and supervise summer camps and summer program implementation
Coordinate fellowship activities, including the development of the Youth Venture Student Network (YVSN):
  • Continuously develop and implement strategies to support youth after participating in Youth Venture programs
  • Develop and supervise the YVSN to become a support network for all Youth Venture participants
  • Monitor data tracking systems and ensure Youth Venture is keeping in contact with youth participants
  • Manage a monthly Youth Venture newsletter, focused on informing students of upcoming opportunities
Create and implement strategic plan to expand the impact of the volunteer program:
  • Identify and cultivate volunteer pipelines, with a particular focus on Ashoka Support Network, Ashoka City Changemaker, parent, teacher, and community partner engagement opportunities
  • Work with the Youth Venture Program Director and Ashoka Seattle Executive Director to develop Ashoka Support Network and Ashoka City Changemaker programs and opportunities
  • Assist with volunteer training and support efforts to continuously improve the volunteer training materials
  • Collaborate with Program and Development Associate to ensure volunteers are supported in working with youth
Support impact measurement around all Youth Venture programs:
  • Manage and actively track youth contact information, team information and progress reports
  • Conduct impact assessments as directed by the Youth Venture Program Director
  • Submit seed grant requests and providing reports to Youth Venture’s national office
Oversee outreach to young people through schools, youth-serving organizations, and events:
  • Represent Youth Venture at community events and activities
  • Supervise the recruitment of youth to join the Dream It. Do It. Challenge and engage in the Venture launch process
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience:
  • 1+ years experience in youth development/working with teens
  • Entrepreneurial experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and capacity to track and analyze data
  • Proven ability and effective at coaching, tutoring and/or teaching
  • History of involvement in community organizing
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective leader
  • Experience or thorough comfort level with ambiguous situations in a rapidly changing environment
Other skills, abilities and attributes:
  • Commitment to addressing issues affecting demographically diverse and low income communities
  • Full belief in the power and potential of young people to create change and implement entrepreneurially solutions to community issues
  • Energy, availability, and willingness to work evenings, odd hours, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to connect with diverse groups
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively with a small team
  • Ability to drive collaboration among individuals, groups and organizations
  • Creativity and capacity to “think big”
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent public speaking and communication skills
Technology:
  • Required proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Experience with Salesforce helpful but not required
Compensation will be based on experience
