In the model of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), the activities we do in Girl Scouts and the way that we do them (processes) result in outcomes that empower girls to become leaders.

Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GirlScoutsWW.org) is expanding our staff to better support the volunteers that work with girls in troops! We are currently seeking a stellar volunteer management star with experience working with and managing volunteers, preferably with strong youth development experience. While knowledge of Girl Scout programming is helpful it is not required. The Troop Program Manager will ensure that our volunteers in the assigned geographic area are adequately supported. They will oversee the implementation of quality programming, growth and retention in that area. The Troop Program Manager will work collaboratively with a peer in our Community Development team, (our recruitment arm), to ensure that girls that want to participate in Girl Scouts in a troop setting not only have that opportunity, but that they experience quality programming based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) as they become girls of courage, confidence and character.

Essential Functions:

Primary:
  • Responsible for ensuring girls participating in the Troop Pathway within assigned geographic area experience quality program based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). The program and quality should support the organization's strategic plan and program initiatives and whenever possible link to National Program Portfolio, such as Journeys. 
  • Supervise up to ten service units (e.g.: volunteer led support structure to troops). Provide guidance and support to service unit volunteers that lead coordinated programmatic events and activities for girls and strengthening volunteer support at the service unit level, using the Safety Checkpoints and Risk Management procedures. Partner with Community Development to develop and implementation of annual membership recruitment plan that includes girl growth and volunteer recruitment goal setting.
  • Direct the on-going development of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience programming to troops by creating and delivering program support materials, volunteer workshops that are focused on grade-level groupings, and informal learning opportunities for troop leaders that strengthen troop retention. Partner with service unit volunteers to support these efforts.
  • Responsible for timely girl and volunteer placement, including new troop formation using consistent processes in troops, including Sampler troops that provide programs based on the GSLE and Journeys that leads to annual girl growth and strengthening girl market share.   
  • Manage Bronze and Silver Awards to girls in troops; manage Money Earning applications; manage Troop Travel; and coordinate certificates of insurance, facilities use agreements and other forms of risk management for assigned area.

Secondary:
  • Support activities to establish community collaborations to promote the council's commitment to reach every girl, everywhere by ensuring that membership plans reach out to and are accessible to all racial/ethnic groups, underserved and not served populations.
  • Support the growth and success of all Pathways for girls, including new program initiatives.
  • In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum one year experience successfully managing or supporting volunteers in direct or indirect program delivery.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of youth development strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout program helpful.
  • Excellent customer experience/service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to be able to work with individuals at all levels and backgrounds.
  • Previous work experience utilizing conflict resolution skills.
  • Availability to work varied hours, including some nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely or from a home office, on occasion.
  • Skilled in Outlook, Word and Excel, and familiarity with Access or other database system.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritizes deadlines, work independently, take initiative, highly organized, and maintain confidentiality in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal background search.
  • Willingness to maintain membership in Girl Scouts.
