Resource Development VISTA (Seattle Area)
KEY Position Responsibilities:
Resource Development
• Prepare and present proposals for corporate and foundation support
• Support special event fundraising activities
• Solicit funders through grantwriting
• Support local fundraising strategies
• Lead donor acknowledgement, recognition, and research
Partnership Development
• Develop strategic alliances with community leaders, board members and agency partners. Assist in the development of collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations.
Marketing & Public Relations (with the goal to increase the visibility of the Boys & Girls Clubs)
• Generate press releases.
• Maintain good public and media relations
• Operate social media tools
• Support creation of annual communications plan
Programs
• Support Youth of the Year teen program
• Provide leadership on developing opportunities for program collaboration across WA Clubs (i.e. outcome measurement, etc)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to work independently and in an organized manner
• Strong people skills; ability to work well with people
• Organized, detail-oriented, works well on deadline
• Ability to work with adults of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds
• Ability to work as a team member with club staff, volunteers and representatives of other community agencies
Education and Experience Desired
- BA/BS degree in human services, education, communications, English, or related field required (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated understanding of youth development field and youth programs
Organization Background:
The Mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington State (BGCWA) is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens. Our Clubs offer programs at a total of 151 separate locations, including Clubhouses, native lands, public housing, schools, and community centers. We currently serve more than79,000 Washington state youth in grades K-12, providing programs in five core program areas: Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, the Arts and Sports/Fitness/Recreation.
NOTE: this is a one year, National Service position, through AmeriCorps VISTA. It is a great opportunity for someone getting started in their career, or looking to make a change in their field of work.
