Vittana is a nonprofit organization focused on graduating a generation beyond poverty. We are expanding our stellar web development team with another “hard-headed idealist” who wants to take our crowdsourcing website to the next level and change the world by opening opportunity to the next generation.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
We're making a tangible difference in the developing countries where we work and the software you'll write will be integral to our continued success. You'll work collaboratively in a team of with technical and non-technical coworkers to build, learn, and iterate our way to a great customer experience. You'll work harder than you ever have and you'll have more fun than you ever expected. You'll wear many hats while building new features for our public-facing website, improving the UI/UX of our website and internal tools, and helping to optimize our systems as we grow to scale.
REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated passion for the modern web
- Fluency in Ruby and Rails
- Front-end, back-end, or full-stack expertise
- Self-motivation and ability to thrive in an agile/iterative development environment
- Able to effectively work in a cross discipline team environment
- Interest in our cause and working for social good
- Git experience and GitHub account
- Familiarity with Unix-based systems
- HAML, SASS, jQuery, and CoffeeScript chops
- B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science, HCI or related discipline; however, we're more impressed by passion than degrees, GPAs, or years of experience
- Work experience at a previous start-up or personal side projects
