Job Summary
Responsible for classroom instruction and training. Plan for and deliver adult education classes, administer examinations, collect and record data as it pertains to student progress.

Essential Functions
Provide approximately 12 hrs per week of direct instruction in some or all of the following depending upon site need: ESL/Vocational ESL, Basic literacy – reading, writing and math, computer literacy (basic – intermediate) soft skills, job readiness, and customer service.
ESL Instruction: ESL/Vocational ESL, ESL basic computer literacy, and citizen test preparation.
Computer Instruction: Computer basics (mouse and keyboard, vocabulary, internet/email, etc). Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Keyboarding and online job search.
Basic Skills Instruction: GED test preparation, basic literacy – reading, writing and math. Retail and customer service training, cashiering and soft skills. Provide job search assistance to students. Resume/cover letter writing.
Use effective teaching practices and follow competency-based curriculum.
Implement educational technology in the classroom.
Create lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners, including the integration of educational technology.
Provide tutoring support and feedback to students.
Administer examinations.
Maintain student records and data to track student progress and retention.
Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to helping students learn.
Support the Site Manager in outreach and case management.
Present special lectures, seminars, and workshops as requested.
Attend staff meetings.
Work on special projects as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Science or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience: Minimum two years teaching/training experience.
Specific Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: Required: Bilingual skills a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new software as needed. Success in simplifying and communicating complex ideas and tasks. Experience teaching/training students who may not have any formal education. Must be flexible and have the ability to work in an environment with very diverse group of people.

Essential Physical Abilities: Able to safely lift/push/ pull up to 25 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms, standing for long periods of time. Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing; including those who have limited English skills, large and small groups, and individuals.

Working Conditions:
Office/classroom environment; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position requires some travel to other locations for offsite meetings and events.
