AMERICORPS VISTA Program Outcomes Specialist (Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County)

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Program Outcomes Specialist works with the local Club to increase capacity on outcome measurement, data collection and analysis, and communication of impact to the community. This position focuses on reducing poverty, engaging the community and building capacity in the organization.


KEY ROLES (Essential Position Responsibilities):


Outcome Measurement

• Work with organization staff to increase organizational effectiveness at tracking inputs relevant to increasing member success in the area of Academics.

o Work with Club staff to increase data collection

o Collect relevant Community Statistics

o Collect and document Club membership information

o Assist in develop and distribute dashboard

o Facilitate conversations between the Club and parents, schools, and community partners.

Impact Assessment

• Work with Clubs to Build Impact Assessment Action Plans

o Provide follow-up and assistance

o Report Impact Assessment Scores to BGCA

• Evaluate targeted Outcomes including:

o On-time grade level progression and on-time graduation

o College and career readiness


Communication

• Work with Development Department to Build Communication documents which articulate Club Impact Communicate the story of how Boys & Girls Clubs are making a difference in the lives of youth.

o Create communications plan for both the results of studies and other relevant information related to measurement.

o Integrate Impact & Outcomes work with Grants and broader community relations efforts.

• Work with Resource Development staff to utilize communication with donors.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work with youth and adults of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds

• Ability to identify and address needs of volunteers, funders and communities

• Ability to work as a team member with club staff, volunteers and representatives of other community agencies

• Ability to evaluate and document program participation and effectiveness

• Ability to actively recruit volunteers for programs

• Ability to work independently and in an organized manner

• Ability to transport members to and from scheduled events - Must possess a valid Washington driver's license.


Education and Experience Required

• BA/BS degree in human services, education, communications, English, or related field required (or equivalent experience)

• Demonstrated understanding of youth development field and youth programs


Physical Requirements/ Work Environment

The successful candidate must be able to use a variety of janitorial / office equipment including vacuum cleaner, computer, telephone, and / or other equipment. S/he may be required to lift supplies, materials, and collateral materials up to 35 pounds.
