Position Description:
Established in 1997 by the International District Housing Alliance, WILD is a leadership development
program for Asian and Pacific Islander immigrant and refugee youth and elders. WILD fosters leadership
skills in program participants through community projects with a social and environmental justice focus.

Essential Duties:
· Provide academic and career counseling case management support to high-school aged youth,
including but not limited to, information and referral, job search and placement, tutoring, and college
preparation;
· Assist in facilitating and supervising youth program group meetings, workshops and special projects.
· Create curriculum or workshops on specific topics;
· Assist in program tracking and data collection for program reports;
· Assist in organizing and supervising field trips, such as outdoor activities in wilderness settings, with
some overnights required;
· Help create learning experiences for and support program interns.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree and/or three years’ experience in a youth program in a greater than volunteer
position;
· Ability to undertake strenuous physical activities;
· Demonstrated dependability & responsibility; Works well both independently and cooperatively;
· Have a valid Washington State driver’s license and willingness to drive large vehicles (vans);
· Willingness to learn and have fun; Must have strong people skills;
· Agree to a standard Washington State Identification check.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with and enjoys working with any of these groups: high-school aged youth, students
learning English as a Second Language, or Asian and Pacific Islanders;
· Knowledge or experience with working in a leadership development model;
· Knowledge of social and environmental justice issues;
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

SCOPE OF POSITION: Assisting primarily in the After School Program and other youth activities under the direction of Youth Director, Youth Coordinator, and the Corps Officers of the Eastside Corps.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The responsibilities of the Youth Program Assistant are to follow, lead, teach, and oversee youth activities involving the Eastside Corps Community Center which are but not not limited to after school program, girl's nights, teen nights, youth nights, field trips, special events, troops, assemblies.
• Co-operate with the Youth Department to help plan and execute VBS, Day Camp, Soccer Camp and any other youth events that are prescribed.
• Seek out opportunities to engage children in the community and corps.
• Able to facilitate implement a safe environment in keeping up with Protecting the Mission


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Clinician -- Child & Family Services

Provides assessment, direct clinical intervention and supportive consultation to child, adolescent and adult family members presenting a wide variety of emotional and behavioral problems. Convene weekly functional care team meetings in 4 participating high schools in Bethel School District: Bethel, Graham-Kapowsin, Spanaway Lake and Challenger;
Help identify students who are at--risk of suicide and in need of mental health treatment;
Ensure that functional care team members have been trained in the GAIN-Short Screen and ASIST workshops; also ensure that they have completed Kognito's on-line training - "At-Risk";
Track recommendations from functional care team for mental health treatment and confer with the grant manager regarding final decision;
If approved for mental health treatment, assist care team in making referral; work with family and identified student to overcome barriers in order to enhance the likelihood of following through with the treatment;
Under the mentorship of the local YSPP Field Staff, learn to deliver parent and/or teacher education, then offer and facilitate as requested by the participating schools;
Provide consultation to school administration on their crisis response plan to ensure that it includes content on suicide prevention, intervention and postvention;
Help Seattle-based YSPP staff to organize the logistics related to the GAIN-SS, HELP and ASIST workshops;
Work with school administration to encourage staff and faculty to complete Kognito's on-line training - "At-Risk";
Develop and maintain a tracking system that records on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis:
- # of individuals (school staff and community providers) who complete the 2-day ASIST workshop and are thereby more ready, willing and able to assess & intervene with a suicidal youth;
- # of individuals (school staff and community providers) who attend the GAIN-SS training and thereby know how to assess for internal and external distress symptoms and substance abuse;
- # of health teachers who attend HELP workshops and thereby are more confidently prepared to deliver the four supplemental health lessons
- # of high school staff and teachers who complete Kognito's on-line training and thereby have a better understanding of the symptoms of depression and how to intervene with a youth who may be at risk of suicide;
- # of students who are identified and assessed for suicide risk, using the GAIN-SS tool;
- # of students who are referred for treatment and specifically to which treatment source -- including method of payment for treatment (private insurance, Medicaid or YSPP-supported);
- # of students who receive mental health and/or substance abuse treatment, with specific detail related to # of visits, GAIN-SS scores at each visit
Provide written monthly reports that highlight student, school and/or functional care team successes, and/or any challenges or obstacles that interfere with students getting assessed and treated for suicidal behavior;
Participate in evaluation activities and coordinate with UW evaluators when asked by Grant Manager;
Identify and recruit community stakeholders to participate in a local suicide prevention coalition; facilitate monthly meetings with a focus on raising awareness and promoting suicide prevention training and education;
Serve as the "face" of this project in the community.

Qualifications & Skills/Knowledge Required

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in social work, public health, nursing, educationor relevant field;
Experience working in substance abuse or mental health community organization;
Possess a familiarity with how schools function - particularly the resource constraints under which they work;
Understands the culture of south Pierce County, specifically active duty and retired military families;
Comfortable with community organizing and meeting facilitation;
Has access to a reliable, insured vehicle and possesses a current driver's license;
Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team in a school or community organization is a plus

Seattle Community Care is seeking experienced professionals to join our team. As a Behavior Specialist you will work one-on-one with youth in school and in their homes. In the classroom, you will assist children in meeting their academic and social goals through therapeutic methods. Essential duties of the Behavior Specialist:

- Create and maintain communication with the case manager, family and school team regarding the child's daily behaviors.
- Implement and assist in the design of a behavior plan that is targeted at reducing problematic behaviors and increasing desired behaviors.
- Document client activity and complete all paperwork in a timely manner such as time sheet, incident reports and daily classroom documentation.
- Provide a safe atmosphere for youth at all times through crisis intervention, conflict resolution and teaching problem solving skills.

Behavior Specialist positions are contract positions during weekdays, evenings, and weekend hours. Employment during school breaks during the year and in the summer is provided at our therapeutic summer camp and is based upon seniority.

Behavior Specialist School Positions (32-40 hrs per week):

  • Strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program to reorient their lives and nurture their leadership skills.

    Position Summary

    This position is responsible for providing match support to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with Big Brothers Big Sisters on the part of volunteers.     Job Qualifications
    A minimum of 2 years of successful experience working in the field of social services. Experience in providing services and case management to at-risk youth and families. Minimum Bachelors degree in social services, human resources or related field preferred. Assessment and relationship development experience with child and adult populations; understanding of child development and family dynamics.     Primary
