Work with Cascade Bicycle Club as an AmeriCorps Member for our Bicycle Education Programs. Commute, Youth, Community, and Major Taylor Outreach Program Assistants work closely with the Education Department and Policy, Planning and Government Affairs Department to help run youth, adult, and community programs. Kids' programs, such as camps, Major Taylor Clubs for disadvantaged youth, school-based programs, and events focus on skill-building, safety, education and fun. Adult programs include policy work, commute programming, skills classes, helmet sales, Bike Month and Ambassador Program. The Commute Assistant will support the Bike Business Forum, bike friendly certification system and Best Practices Guide, Policy/Planning Toolkit for jurisdictions, and State Bike/Ped counts. The Major Taylor Outreach Assistant will work on empowering underserved youth by teaching riding and safety as well as encouraging positive physical, social, and emotional development. Youth Program Assistant will manage school year programs and teach summer camps. The Community Program Assistant will manage the Bicycle Ambassador program, providing bicycling information in the community. The AmeriCorps member(s) will help manage youth and adult programming, bike maintenance for our school bikes, and provide opportunities for community members to build their love of bicycling and become better cyclists. Positions run from 10/1/2012-8/15/2013. Members receive stipend, health benefits, and education award through the state AmeriCorps program. These AmeriCorps positions are restricted to ages 18-25 (must be not over age 25 by start date of Oct. 1).
