Position Announcement: Office and Operations Coordinator
Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS)
The Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS) is a nonprofit founded at the University of Washington in 1948. FIUTS connects students to local and global communities through programs that build international awareness, cross-cultural communication, and informed leadership. A small organization with a wide range of programs and constituents, FIUTS builds a strong sense of community and engages students and community members in dialogue and exchange based on shared interests and experiences and inspires leadership development in a global context.
The Office and Operations Coordinator oversees FIUTS administrative and reception operations, maintains quality experiences for students in our office, and provides key support for fundraising, bookkeeping, and special events. This position also oversees check-in procedures for new international students and the Wednesday Lunch program, and supervises up to three interns. Reports to the Executive Director.

Duties Include:
Reception and Front Desk Operations (30%) - Ensure quality experiences for students in the FIUTS office; provide key information to student questions about Seattle, the UW, and local resources
- Develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures; work with other staff to administer ticket sales, reception operations, and event sign ups
- Maintain promotional information, language and housing boards, and other resources
- Supervise temporary interns, maintain front desk coverage and train new staff on reception procedures
- Oversee front desk messaging and communications – email, phone, etc
- Manage off-site and special event ticket sales (CulturalFest, Orientation, Special Events)
Administration (30%)
- Support the Executive Director and other staff by carrying out a variety of administrative tasks, including human resources, bookkeeping, fundraising, and meeting management
- Oversee office supplies, storage, and general office organization
- Provide support for FIUTS technical infrastructure; manage relationship with technical support services
Programs (20%)
- Administer the Wednesday Lunch program – secure food, manage room and vehicle reservations, request and oversee volunteers
- Serve as the Coordinator for English Conversation Group and other ad-hoc campus programming
- Produce small-scale events and programs involving overseas and local alumni
Marketing and Outreach (20%)
- Prepare and coordinate weekly e-mail communications with current students
- Support FIUTS outreach goals through social media and other means to reach student populations to promote events and opportunities, recruit participants, and generate interest in programs
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA required, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Experience with office administration, bookkeeping, fundraising, events, and communications
  • Demonstrated writing and public speaking ability
  • Overseasexperience and experience working with diverse populations; East Asian populations a plus
  • Non-profit experience required
  • Computer proficiency required in Microsoft Office; understanding of basic office computer systems
  • Hard worker, friendly personality, comfort with intercultural situations, willingness to work extended hours and weekends when necessary
  • Valid WA State Driver’s License
  • Dedicated, flexible, team-oriented individual who can work independently in a small team environment.
