F/T Housing Case Manager (Auburn, WA): SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Coming UP Case Manager provides intensive Case Management services to 15 youth ages 18-24 in rental facilities funded by Section 8 Vouchers. This program, titled "Coming Up" is a collaborative effort between AYR, Kent Youth and Family Services, and Valley Cities. This position requires travel to the rental units as well as transporting clients to services or appointments as needed. The Facility Based Case Manager works as a member of AYR's Outreach program and works closely with the Outreach workers, peer outreach workers, non facility case managers, and reports to the Outreach Program Coordinator. The position requires non traditional work hours, crisis intervention, mentoring and advocating for youth in this program while modeling and teaching life skills and appropriate behavior. The Facility based Case Manager establishes a positive rapport with the formerly homeless youth they have enrolled. The Outreach Case Manager sets up appropriate treatment plans and makes appropriate referrals while establishing clear and appropriate boundaries with youth served.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide direct service to youth with a focus on under served and hard to serve populations.
2. Act in the role as "Advocate" to youth for the entire duration of their participation in the "Coming Up" program.
3. Provide case management services as needed to "Coming up Youth".
4. Maintain data collection and case records as required by the grant and/or the contract.
5. Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
6. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Kent Youth and Family Services Counseling and Drug and Alcohol liaison, as well as the housing Coordinator and peer specialist from Valley Cities.
7. Be familiar with youth-serving programs throughout King County.
8. Work with the Outreach Coordinator to develop and update resource information for the King County region.
9. Communicate regularly with the Outreach Coordinator about ongoing program development and implementation areas of concern as they arise.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Participate in outcome evaluation tasks as dictated by funding source requirements.
2. Participates in Outreach Staff meetings and "Coming Up" staff meetings weekly.
3. Prepares reports and participates in special projects (such as presentations, trainings, etc.) as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Highly effective in working objectively with a diverse group of people and must demonstrate communication, organizational, administrative and office managerial skills.
2. Must be a team player willing to accept and promote organizational goals and function with minimal supervision.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's Degree in human services field (i.e. Social Work, Psychology) from an accredited college or university. 2-3years of experience working in community mental health preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education.

JOB TITLE:      ROOTS Volunteer Manager
REPORTS TO:  ROOTS Executive Director

POSITION SUMMARY:
• Responsibilities: The Volunteer Manager is responsible for supervision of the ROOTS Young Adult Shelter program in concert with the Shelter Manager, management of the ROOTS volunteer program, community outreach, and documentation to satisfy grant requirements. These duties will be conducted in accordance with the ROOTS Vision and Mission, agency policies and procedures, as well as relevant federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
o Management of the ROOTS volunteer program: recruitment, training, scheduling, support and recognition of volunteers, including scheduling, support, and development.
o Supervision of the ROOTS Young Adult Shelter program, including supervision of Program Coordinators, supervision of on-call staff, and support of Shelter Manager including maintaining minimum staffing level on a nightly basis.
o Community outreach and public engagement.
o Documentation to satisfy grant requirements
• Authority:  The Volunteer Manager supervises the Program Coordinators, on-call staff and all volunteer positions excepting that of Overnight Supervisor. This includes support, training and evaluation and development of these team members.
• Accountability: The Volunteer Manager is accountable to the Executive Director to support operational performance of the Shelter Program in support of the ROOTS Vision and Mission and for the accurate and timely recording of guest data.
  
This is a fulltime position with a salary of $37K/year (depending on experience) plus health benefits and paid time off.

ROOTS delivers critical services to homeless young adults and other low income persons, advocates for policies that foster dignity and long-term solutions, and works toward building community partnerships.
ROOTS currently operates two direct services programs: the Friday Feast meal program, recognized by Seattle’s homeless newspaper Real Change as “the best of all soup kitchens,” serving over 8000 meals per year, and the ROOTS Young Adult Shelter, the largest emergency shelter in Seattle for young adults.  Its mission is to offer critical emergency services in an atmosphere of welcoming hospitality.  The shelter operates 365 days a year, employing a small paid staff, with a heavy reliance on volunteers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Ensure adequate volunteer staff are recruited, trained and scheduled to maintain a high quality of program at shelter, and meeting a minimum ratio for team members to guests.
 Plan events and opportunities for acknowledgement of volunteers and team-building.
 Maintain a regular presence at shelter to support and supervise volunteers, assess training needs, correct or terminate service commitments as needed.
 Complete all paperwork and documentation required for supervision and volunteer recruitment goals.
 Liaison with service placement organizations, such as the UW Carlson Center, outreach to colleges, churches, civic groups and workplaces toward new volunteer recruiting.
 Support of Shelter Manager in the following: program evaluation, review of operating practices, supervision of case managers, guest behavior contract development and implementation, and nightly report response including determining guest bars, team member follow-up and general announcements.
 Maintenance of sign-ins, hour logs, intake data and other records for both guests and volunteers.
 Provide ongoing support and team member development of two to three part-time program coordinators, including regular supervision meetings, goal setting, evaluation and ongoing training.
 Participate in regular meetings with the program staff and volunteers, including lead role in Program Coordinator meeting and All-team meetings as requested.
 Regular attendance of community meetings including the University District Service Providers Alliance monthly meeting.
 Position may include a trainer’s role in ‘The Ropes: Understanding and Engaging Youth Homelessness.”
 Leadership in ROOTS’ anti-oppression and cultural competency journey, includes management of the ROOTS Change Team and recruiting a shelter team that more closely reflects those we serve.
 Regular HMIS/Safe Harbors data entry.
 Be familiar with shelter policies and practices and written records required by ROOTS and its contracting partners.
 Maintain knowledge about the external environment as it relates to collaborative record keeping, documentation, and service partnerships and referrals for homeless youth and young adults.
 Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
 Experience working with young adults or homeless and under-served populations, including demonstrated ability to positively engage with these populations and implement discipline
 Must demonstrate ability to work effectively in both faith-based communities and volunteer-driven, community-based service organizations.
 Must have highly developed communication skills: ability to communicate the written and spoken word clearly and effectively; ability to communicate to a wide variety of people with ease.
 Good organizational skills: well disciplined, able to meet deadlines, self-starter, able to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines.
 Good interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to recruit, screen, and sustain quality volunteers
 Solid understanding of issues related to poverty, racism, and homelessness and capacity to advocate and build programs that counteract the oppression of those we serve.
 Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field; certification or training in volunteer management, other relevant experience will be considered.

•Assess participants in need of services, develop and document service plans on participants that include linkages with community resources, family, other YouthCare components or external providers as clinically appropriate. Work with client and internal and external staff to ensure follow-through.
•Provide a minimum of 20 hours weekly direct contact with participants at the James W. Ray Orion Center, including face-to-face counseling, advocacy and transportation and assisting youth in meeting their basic needs of food, housing and safety.
•Link youth to opportunities that allow them to gain skills to become successful adults.
•Act as a mentor and advocate for youth participants.
•Engage youth through Motivational Interviewing, strengths-based and harm reduction approaches.
•Complete and submit all documentation and grant reporting in a timely manner.
•Participate in weekly or bi-monthly supervision meetings and in monthly clinical consultation.
•Attend in-service trainings.
•Attend grant funder sponsored meetings as required for position.
•Spend time working collaboratively with the Community Outreach Team participating in outreach activities and working in drop-in areas, providing a link between case management and other Orion services.
•Drop-in service responsibilities include maintaining safety and managing behaviors in the drop-in areas; facilitating activities; preparing and serving meals; kitchen clean up and overall area maintenance.

•Provide on-site supervision of youth.
•Provide crisis intervention and crisis counseling to residents.

•Administer life skills assessment to residents.

The Weekend Overnight Youth Counselor must be comfortable working with young adults; must be able to balance nurturing and listening while following program guidelines and setting reasonable limits; and must have great organizational skills. Additionally, the Weekend Overnight Youth counselor must have some experience (or a willingness to learn) light apartment maintenance and housekeeping, as well as simple data entry.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Oversee weekend evening activity, including compliance with visitor regulations and program procedures. Monitor all program spaces; walk hallways every 30-45 minutes; conduct two (2) outside perimeter checks per shift. Overnight Youth Counselor must remain awake during entire shift (10:00pm-6:00am).

•Provide crisis intervention and counseling to clients in care. Support Clean and Sober housing model.

•Provide advocacy services, including informal counseling, and community referrals.

•Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the apartment building, including the laundry room, the community room, and adjoining deck. Perform light janitorial work, including vacuuming carpets; taking out trash; sweeping/mopping floors; and similar tasks. Compile maintenance requests and submit to Program Manager/Maintenance Staff as needed.

•Maintain accurate case files, log entries, and other necessary client records.

•Attend once-monthly community meetings (3rd Tuesday at 6:45pm) and help residents problem solve, share fun activities, and learn from each other. Encourage the residents to take leadership roles within the home and community.

•Attend the once-monthly Staff meeting (3rd Tuesday at 8:00 pm).

•Perform light maintenance on apartment vacancies, including spackling/painting walls; vacuuming/steam-cleaning carpets; packing and removal of abandoned furniture/belongings; and similar tasks.

•After appropriate training, administer Breathalyzer™ and urinalysis testing.

•Conduct group and/or individual workshops to address house maintenance and daily living life skills as needed.

•Supervises house and monitors residents' behavior and whereabouts in the house to ensure the safety of residents. At times may have to perform random apartment checks.

•Doing monthly rent determinations with residents; tracking and processing rent payments, deposits, miscellaneous fees; complete monthly reports; conducting internal file audits; posting current local housing advertisements.

Scope

Neighborhood House (NH) and the City of Seattle Human Services Department are partnering to offer year-round Family Center services to residents of High Point/West Seattle. Family Centers are places that welcome families, build relationships and offer information and experiences in which families are personally interested. We are seeking a qualified individual to coordinate High Point Family Center programs, activities and services. This person will focus on community/family outreach, education through increased awareness of the Family Center and to establish and enhance community relations with the Center and other providers to bring about family self-reliance and empowerment.

Responsibilities
Work with Family Center Manager to establish and enhance community education through assisting team members with ongoing and newly established center activities.
Organize and facilitate adult and youth activities that promote youth education, health, family/school involvement, economic self-sufficiency, employment and family stability.

Weekend Relief Staff for Transitional Living Program (Seattle, Bothell, Kirkland or Everett):

The Weekend Relief Staff is responsible for weekend supervision of homeless young adults and will act as role model and provide support for these residents.

In addition to the coverage of weekends, it is required that persons in this position also relieve Resident Managers/Coordinators at times of vacation leave and on agency holidays. Weekend Relief Staff will also have weeknight availability to provide childcare during parenting meetings.

(Please note: No one staff person is ever expected to cover every holiday or vacation leave, unless desired)

Responsibilities
Supervision of Residents
Support residents in the execution of their Independent Living Plan.
Be available on-site during scheduled weekend hours to supervise residents' activities. Walk hallways and grounds periodically (at least once every two hours) to ensure safety and compliance with rules.
Assist in any emergency needs or events that may arise.
Record weekend activities and report activities to Resident Manager on Sunday night.
Plan and participate in recreational activities with residents.
Attend meetings and trainings as required.
When necessary, assist in maintenance needs.
Must inform Program Coordinator if you will be out of reach or out of town.
Must provide and maintain a "best to reach at" e-mail address or phone number that is checked a minimum of once per day.

Pay Structure:
Hourly positions begin at $13-$15/hr DOE. Benefits are available after 90 days and include 100% employer paid medical/dental/prescription and up to three weeks paid time off per year after one year.

Boys & Girls Club Staff (multiple positions) (Rainier Vista (SE Seattle)): Current positions available:

Youh Drop In Staff working with kids 2nd grade-6th grade afterschool
Teen Coordinator working with teens and managing 2 teen staff members

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Support (Drop-in Assistant Coordinator and Senior Program Director in facilitating pre-designed programs in an assigned area. Expected to communicate with and motivate youth in positive manner. Majority of responsibility is working directly with youth, ensuring their safety, well being and development through interactive play and other activities as directed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Contribute to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success while contributing to creating a Club environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcome achievement
 Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment while helping to ensure that facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained
 Contribute to planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs, services and activities
 Ensure a productive work environment
 See attached Supplement for additional organizational expectations
 Ensure program area set-up and clean-up on a daily basis
 Lead club Power Hour (homework help) sessions
 Lead daily high yield learning activities
 Implement Triple Play, Powerful Choices and other specific BGCA programs
 Positively engage club members (grades 2-6 or 7-12)
 Be a good communicator, team player and problem solver
 Other duties as assigned

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor. Communicate daily to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.
External: Support external contact as instructed with community groups, schools, member's parents and others as directed by supervisor.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
 High School diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in school (College degree or current college student preferred)
 Youth development experience preferred
 Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program, must be 21 years old or older to drive Club owned and operated vehicles
 Successful completion of National Criminal History Background check
 Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
 Knowledge and/or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency, Boys & Girls Club experience preferred
 Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
 Good organization and attention to detail, professional presence, strong customer relations skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
 Understanding of youth development principles, ability to motivate youth in a positive way
 Ability to learn and support new ideas for the good of the Club

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position must be able to do light work including exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force periodically to move objects. Climbing stairs, walking, standing for sustained periods of time, as well as noise levels consistent with the environment are all part of the physical and working conditions of the job.

Hours: Varies (between 21-28 hours per week)
Salary Range: $9.00-$13.00 per hour
