Job Description: Organizers in our Growth (new organizing) department at SEIU Healthcare 775NW typically work on both community and union organizing. Organizers in the Growth Department help workers form a union by house-visiting workers, identifying and developing leaders, and mobilizing members and the community to support pro-worker legislation. Organizers also spend time mobilizing community members to take action on issues such as income inequality, tax dodging, and unemployment.

Growth Organizers work on campaigns throughout the States of Washington and Montana, and occasionally participate on campaigns in other states. Applicants should be willing to be based in King County, WA.

Qualifications: Excellent communication skills, ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds/cultures, ability to work independently as well as on a team, commitment to justice for working people, willingness to work long and irregular hours. Willingness to travel is a requirement. No prior organizing experience is necessary.

Job Requirements:
  • Personal commitment to the mission and goals of SEIU and to the specific program of SEIU
  • Healthcare 775NW.
  • Having a valid drivers' license and a reliable, insured car.
  • The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

  • Compensation: Salary and benefits are set by collective bargaining agreement, and range from $39,050 to $50,200 a year depending on experience. Benefits include fully employer-paid family health, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, a generous leave package, car allowance, fully employer-paid pension (defined benefit plan), an optional 401(K) plan (no employer match), and other benefits outlined in the policies of SEIU Healthcare 775NW and the staff union contract. Included in the Staff Union Bargaining Unit (classified in the program schedule) this is a full-time, salaried, overtime-exempt position.
