Camp Korey is expanding its Hospital Outreach Program for 2012, and we are looking for someone who wants to help lead the program! Our Hospital Outreach Program (HOP) brings the hopeful, playful spirit of Camp Korey to youth and families in the hospital setting, year-round. Program staff offer both a compassionate presence and imaginative activities in order to restore joy, connection, self-esteem, and agency in times often laden with stress and uncertainty. The program is adapted to best support existing hospital programs and serves youth of all ages. The HOP Coordinator will facilitate drop-in programs and provide creative companionship to youth in their hospital rooms. The coordinator will also assist the HOP Manager with program development. The anticipated start date for the new position is April 24th, 2012.

Job Responsibilities:
A. Program Coordination (approximately 5 hours per week)
• Plan your Seattle-based programs/bedside visits
• Order supplies on behalf of program
• Develop program-specific flyers
• Update records of programs, purchasing, and logistics
• Contribute to periodic updates of documents regarding program practices and policies
• Assist with the periodic recruitment and training of HOP volunteers
• Coordinate and attend 1 volunteer craft-kit work party each month
• Assist with the development and facilitation of special projects and larger celebrations
• Converse regularly with HOP Manager regarding program experience, needs, & ideas for improvement
• Communicate with hospital coordinators to develop or improve your programs

B. Outreach Program (approximately 10 hours per week)
• Facilitate creative drop-in sessions for children, teens and young adults in the hospital setting. Activities include arts & crafts projects and expressive group games.
• Conduct creative bedside visits for children, teens and young adults during inpatient stays or prolonged outpatient treatments.
• Follow each Hospital's protocol with preparation, facilitation, and clean-up of the program
• Adapt activities or possibilities for participation as needed to be inclusive for all
• Role-model the ability to take creative-risks, and provide encouragement for children to do the same
• Document the program through photographs as hospital policy allows

C. General
• Complete applications, interviews, immunizations, and all trainings for hospitals at which you serve.
• Attend and contribute to Camp Korey HOP trainings & read staff/volunteer manual
• Attend regular meetings with HOP Manager and Camp Director.
• Responsible for knowing and adhering to the policies and procedures of Camp Korey
• Responsible for knowing and adhering to the policies and procedures of each partner hospital.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with staff members and hospital partners
• Report any acts of maltreatment, neglect, and/or any other violation of camp policies immediately to your HOP Manager or the Camp Director.

Dates To Note:
Hospital Trainings: Tues April 24th, 5:30-8:30pm, Wed May 2nd, 3:30-6:30pm , Wed May 9th, 3:30-6:30pm, Tues May 24th, 5:30-8:30pm, & available for ½ hour to get immunizations May 4 or 5 and May 11 or 12.
Overnight Program: As part of your training or as a refresher, we ask that you to attend our Sickle Cell Family Weekend May 18th-20th. There may be an alternative date, but this is our preference.
Pre-Set Hospital Programs: Every Thursday (for other programs, you will have a chance to schedule with hospital)

Qualifications:
• The desire to be a positive and empowering ally for children, teens and young adults
• 21 years of age or older
• 2+ years working with children or young people
• 1+ years designing and facilitating creative and connective activities, such as arts-&-crafts projects & expressive group games
• 1+ years of project administration or program coordination
• Enjoys building relationships one-on-one with youth and/or parents
• Experience delivering services with a child-centered approach (i.e. approach that offers children and teens choice and input)
• Professional practice in being silly!, taking creative risks, & giving encouragement so others can do the same
• Collaborative and self-motivated.

SUMMARY:
Prepare and implement all SeaTac Youth Program activities for youth age 8-20, including: academic classes, enrichment clubs, summer programming and family engagement activities. Recruit students and maintain records. Communicate regularly with families, schools, and the SeaTac community. Supervise and direct assistant staff and volunteers. Work as a team with other Youth Program staff. Attend all monthly ReWA staff meetings and Youth Program trainings and/or meetings, including Youth Program Quality Improvement (YPQI) workshops.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation:
· Recruit students on an on-going basis to meet contract goals and requirements
· Maintain waiting list as necessary for potential program participants
· Prepare and maintain classroom and materials, including daily snack
· Compile and keep accurate records of students attendance and performance data, and report on a monthly basis, per contract requirements
· Develop and track Youth Program Quality (YPQ) program goals and outcomes, in collaboration with other YP Staff
· Facilitate announcements and classroom meetings

Teaching:
· Develop and implement program curriculum aligned to support student’s academic and social needs
· Utilize daily and weekly program lesson plans
· Provide structured, engaging tutoring sessions in one-on-one, small group, and classroom settings to support student progress in core subjects, homework, test preparation, and study skills development
· Organize and lead additional academic and enrichment activities in collaboration with other YP staff, including: summer programming, field trips, service projects, and supplementary groups
· Outreach to and communicate regularly with families, schools, teachers, and counselors to assess and ensure student progress

Supervision:
· Supervise and direct assistant staff and volunteers
· Work with YP Lead Teachers and Youth Program Manager to provide training for assistant staff and volunteers
· Manage classroom and student behavior by reinforcing positive values and handling sensitive, conflict situations
· Work together with other YP staff to ensure student engagement, safety and success

Youth Program Team:
· Communicate and meet regularly with site staff to discuss and plan programming, evaluate student progress, recruit/enroll new students and ensure program and grant goals are being met
· Attend all monthly YP Team meetings, including Youth Program Quality Improvement (YPQI) trainings
· Report and communicate program status to Youth Program Manager

Other:
· Prepare and implement family engagement activities and outreach including: phone calls, home visits, family nights
· Maintain confidentiality when working with youth
· Attend monthly agency meetings, as well as other relevant community-based, school district, or provider meetings
· Submit all paperwork including contract reporting, timesheets, and other agency forms in a timely manner
· Any other duties as assigned by the Youth Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Youth Counselor is responsible for the daily management of the program site. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the program philosophies, policies and procedures.
•Provide on-site supervision of youth.
•Use of positive behavior modification techniques. Model effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
•Coordinate and monitor house activities including use of kitchen and laundry facilities.
•Provide crisis intervention and crisis counseling to residents. Use of de-escalation skills as needed to maintain and reestablish a safe environment.
•Maintain a secure and safe facility.
•Attend and coordinate educational groups for residents.
•Complete thorough intake process with clients. Review files for all required paperwork.
•Maintain accurate progress notes, case files, log entries, and other necessary client records.

•Provide support and direction to all youth in achieving individual goals and program expectations.

•Ensure the overall cleanliness of the facility.
•Prepare food for meals and snacks in accordance with posted menus (as needed).
•Instruct and assist youth in self-care skills/tasks, including personal care (as needed).
•Dispense medication (as needed), and complete related documentation. Complete all required documentation according to individual program procedures and timelines.
•Act as a professional representative of YouthCare.
•Assist in maintaining professional working environments (office, personal work space, company car, etc.).
•Additional duties as required by position, and/or supervisor/program manager (will vary across program settings).
•Participate in on-call support to program, as required by individual program needs.
•Work cooperatively with other YouthCare programs, families, school district professional, DCFS/DLR personnel, staff from other agencies, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Under the supervision of the Bridge Program Manager, the Youth Counselor is responsible for the daily management of the program site. This program specializes in serving youth that have been commercially sexually exploited. In conjunction with the clinical staff, the Youth Counselor is responsible for creating a safe environment for high-risk youth in residence that are recovering from complex trauma and preparing to become more self-sufficient. The position requires an individual who can actively contribute to a safe, positive, responsible environment for change.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide supervision of youth in a therapeutic milieu. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the program philosophies, policies and procedures.

Serve as a Primary counselor with assigned youth. Meet weekly with youth to implement the service plans, set appointments and transport youth as assigned. Instruct and assist youth in self-care skills/tasks, including personal care (as needed).

Use motivational behavior change techniques to help youth attain treatment goals and reduce treatment interfering behaviors. Model effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Adhere to the daily program schedule. Coordinate and monitor house activities including use of kitchen and laundry facilities. Ensure the overall cleanliness of the facility.

Provide crisis intervention and crisis counseling to residents. Use of de-escalation skills as needed to maintain and reestablish a safe environment.

Maintain accurate progress notes, case files, log entries, and other necessary client records.

Complete an incident report on any facility damage, medical emergency, or any incident which occurs out the ordinary daily functioning of the house.

Plan for, direct and/or provide support for recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities that are in alignment with treatment and permanency goals. Ensure supervision and safety during activities in a variety of settings.

Prepare food for meals and snacks in accordance with posted menus.

Act as a professional representative of YouthCare in public.

Assist in maintaining clean, organized and professional working environments (office, personal work space, company car, etc.).

Work cooperatively with other YouthCare programs, families, school district professional, Law Enforcement, DCFS/DLR personnel, staff from other agencies, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERENCES:
BA preferred -- Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience working with at-risk youth.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with youth, while building trust and respect.
Ability to deal therapeutically with behavioral and emotional problems presented by youth.
Understanding of emotionally, physically and sexually abused youth.
Ability to coordinate overall household functioning.
Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.
Ability to pass a DSHS Criminal Background Check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform moderate physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 20 pounds frequently.
Ability to climb and descend stairs within a 60 second time frame, a minimum of 10 times a shift.

Camp Korey is expanding its Hospital Outreach Program for 2012, and we are looking for someone who wants to help lead the program! Our Hospital Outreach Program (HOP) brings the hopeful, playful spirit of Camp Korey to youth and families in the hospital setting, year-round.  Program staff offer both a compassionate presence and imaginative activities in order to restore joy, connection, self-esteem, and agency in times often laden with stress and uncertainty. The program is adapted to best support existing hospital programs and serves youth of all ages. The HOP Coordinator will facilitate drop-in programs and provide creative companionship to youth in their hospital rooms. The coordinator will also assist the HOP Manager with program development. The anticipated start date for the new position is April 24th, 2012.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Program Coordination (approximately 5 hours per week)

·         Plan your Seattle-based programs/bedside visits

·         Order supplies on behalf of program

·         Develop program-specific flyers

·         Update records of programs, purchasing, and logistics

·         Contribute to periodic updates of documents regarding program practices and policies

·         Assist with the periodic recruitment and training of HOP volunteers

·         Coordinate and attend 1 volunteer craft-kit work party each month

·         Assist with the development and facilitation of special projects and larger celebrations

·         Converse regularly with HOP Manager regarding program experience, needs, & ideas for improvement

·         Communicate with hospital coordinators to develop or improve your programs



  1. Outreach Program (approximately 10 hours per week)

  • Facilitate creative drop-in sessions for children, teens and young adults in the hospital setting. Activities include arts & crafts projects and expressive group games.
  • Conduct creative bedside visits for children, teens and young adults during inpatient stays or prolonged outpatient treatments.
  • Follow each Hospital’s protocol with preparation, facilitation, and clean-up of the program
  • Adapt activities or possibilities for participation as needed to be inclusive for all
  • Role-model the ability to take creative-risks, and provide encouragement for children to do the same
  • Document the program through photographs as hospital policy allows



  1.  General

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
High Fidelity Wraparound is a team-based planning process intended to provide individualized, coordinated, youth-driven care to meet the complex needs of youth who are homeless and potentially involved in multiple systems (mental health, juvenile justice, chemical dependency, etc.). The wraparound process requires that the youth, service providers, and key members of the youth's family or social support network collaborate to build a creative plan that responds to the particular strengths and needs of the young adult. The Wraparound Facilitator is responsible for coordinating this process, helping the young adult to identify potential team members, facilitating team meetings and ensuring primary focus is on the young-adult's strengths, culture and individual needs. Team members then implement the plan and continue to meet regularly to monitor progress and make adjustments to the plan as necessary. The team continues its work until members reach a consensus that a formal wraparound process is no longer needed. This position is primarily based in the U-District region of Seattle.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Facilitate 12-15 wraparound teams
1) Ensure implementation of the phases and activities of wraparound. Use the "Ten Principles of Wraparound" and the "Phases and Activities of the Wraparound Process" to guide service delivery.
2) Engage clients in a strength-based way that builds on the client's specific wants and needs.
3) Assuming responsibility for configuring, coordinating and facilitating youth teams.
4) Coordinate activities of the group to include: client, service providers, family members and community support.
5) Providing leadership in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of individualized wraparound plans.
6) Facilitate crisis meetings to create a comprehensive, client-centered crisis plan. Communicate and share this plan to all necessary parties.
7) Work with team to increase participation of natural supports (including mentors and family members).
8) Ensure that the wraparound process is provided with high fidelity and is successful for youth by working with the facilitator to move clients towards housing, mental health stability and chemical dependency stability.
9) Track progress toward client's goals.
10) Transport Youth/Young Adults when necessary.

Administrative
1) Maintain clear, up to date progress notes and wraparound case plans.
2) Maintain hard copies of all required wraparound documents that reflect each youth's individualized plan and process.
3) Ensure all required confidentiality and other compliance related documents are current for each youth/young adult.
4) Collect data on client case load and report monthly to wraparound program manager.
5) Other duties as necessary.

General Responsibilities:
1) Must carry a CCS-provided cell phone during working hours.
2) Observe/follow guidelines on confidentiality rights of youth and respect their privacy.
3) Maintain accurate record of hours worked and turn in timesheets on schedule.
4) Be willing to train and learn the specific requirements of high-fidelity Wraparound, including: attend scheduled trainings.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Shelter and drop in volunteer is vital to the overall function of the drop in and shelter program. SKYS offers a 24/7 shelter for youth under age 18, as well as an after-school drop in program 5 days per week for at risk and homeless youth. We are seeking a 6 month minimum commitment with the possibility of a stipend upon completion.

Responsibilities include working under the direction of the Coordinator to develop and oversee activities in the drop in such as recreation, tutoring, and linkages to other services. Volunteers will also support in seeing that shelter youth transition safely to bed, answering and tracking phone calls, coordinating intakes through National Safeplace, and performing as a valuable key member of the staff team. Volunteers will be relied upon to develop important relationships with youth and provide guidance in a mentoring role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Participate in the development and implementation of a program of activities for shelter residents to include: group/house meeting, recreation, outings, household chores, and opportunities for individual goal setting/planning meetings.
2. Develop and maintain resource guide for youth in the program.
3. Maintain safety and supervision of all youth in the drop in and shelter program at all times.
4. Maintain documentation of youth and activities.
5. Fulfill housekeeping duties/tasks as assigned.
6. Attend staff meetings, trainings, orientation sessions, and supervisions as requested.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist in the daily operation of the shelter (i.e. shopping, household tasks/maintenance, cleaning, etc.)
2. Assist supervisor and other management with program needs as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Demonstrated ability to appropriately intervene in crisis situations (Crisis intervention skills).
2. Ability to communicate and set clear and firm limits with youth in crisis.
3. Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbal.
4. Must be 21 years of age

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or GED required. AA or BA preferred. Experience working with homeless or at risk youth may substitute for education.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR KNOWLEDGE:
1. We will assist you in obtaining the following upon hire:
2. Current Washington State Drivers License and proof of valid insurance
3. Current CPR and First Aid Certification
4. Current Food Handlers Card
5. Current Washington State Counselor Registration Status
6. AIDS/HIV training
7. Proof of Negative TB test

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Possible evening, weekend and holiday shifts
2. Potential incidents requiring physical restraints
3. Able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.

SAFETY HAZARDS OF THE JOB:
1. Intermediary safety hazards.
2. Potential violence and/or maltreatment from clients.
3. Potential damage to personal property.

Friends of Youth serves Therapeutic Foster Youth throughout King and south Snohomish Counties. If you have a desire to parent or work with youth, consider what you offer those who have had a rough start to life. Our program is top notch, we fully support our foster families with training, counseling, a master's level case manager and experienced case aides.

Already a foster parent but longing for more support? Friends of Youth has the reputation for taking unbelievable care of our foster families -- and we want you to join us!

To be a foster parent you can be single, married, partnered . . . live in a house, apartment, or condo. The basic requirements for foster care include requiring a spare bedroom for the foster child, some income apart from foster care, and patience. A flexible work schedule is also helpful.
