Resident Manager (Bothell or Everett)

Friends of Youth is a not for profit organization committed to the support of youth and young adults in our community. With 60 years of experience, 20 program sites, and national accreditation, we provide safe places and emotional support for youth and families in challenging circumstances. Our services include:

-Residential Services, providing therapeutic residential services, including foster care, to youth under 18;
-Homeless Support Services, providing outreach, overnight shelter, case management, employment and housing for homeless youth and young adults in East King County
-Youth and Family Services, providing counseling, substance abuse treatment, prevention and parenting programs in East King County.

We are currently seeking 2 Resident Manager positions.
One to work out of our New Ground Bothell facility and one to work out of our New Ground Everett facility. Both are part of our Transitional Living Program within Homeless Youth Services. These positions included a 2 bedroom apartment as part of the compensation. These positions are perfect for the person who has other responsibilities during the daytime hours.

New Groud Bothell would be the idea location for a single woman. New Ground Everett would be idea for a single person or a family.

The resident manager lives onsite at one of Friends of Youth's transitional living programs that serves homeless young adults. Friends of Youth provides the Resident Manager with housing and utilities. The Resident Manager is responsible for landlord tasks, monitoring compliance with house rules and emergency coverage . This position requires 20 office hours per week and overnight on-call hours between Sunday and Thursday evenings.

Program-related Tasks
1. Oversee landlord tasks at program site.
2. Be onsite during evening hours Sundaythrough Thursday from 6:00pm-10:00pm and on call 11:00pm-7:00am Sunday through Friday mornings
3. Interview, train, and provide direct supervision to all Weekend Relief Shift Workers.
4. Facilitate quarterly meetings/trainings for Weekend Relief Shift Workers.
5. Provide weekly written reports for Weekend Relief Shift Workers that detail pertinent resident and program information.
6. Schedule and maintain calendar for Weekend Relief shifts. If a weekend or holiday does not have coverage, the Resident Manager must provide coverage.
7. Oversee facility safety and cleanliness. Enter all maintenance requests into SharePoint maintenance database and follow up on requests as necessary.
8. Monitor and schedule cleaning of the building and individual units.
9. Conduct intake and exit inspecition for each unit upon vacancy or move-in.
10. Conduct weekly apartment inspections and follow up on any unsatisfactory inspection issues within 48 hours of issuing a failed inspection notice. Provide proper documentation of all inspections to case managers.
11. Oversee unit turnover as residents move out, including bagging personal possessional for storage, cleaning the unit and hiring cleaning services as necessary. Must be completed within 7 days of unit vacancy.
12. Ensure security system is running at all times and video surveilance is reviewed during each shift.
13. Assist in planning weekend recreational and life skills activities for residents and oversee Weekend Relief facilitation of weekend activities.
14. Collect rent payments from residents between the first and the fifth of each month , complete accurate rent calculations, and keep updated and thorough written records of all deposit and rent transactions.
15. Facilitate quarterly storage organization process including donating abandoned belongings to Goodwill and/or disposing of abandoned possessions.
16. Attend all house meetings and attend staff meetings as necessary.

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree.
2. Must be at least 25 years of age.
3. Experience working with teens/young adults in alternative setting a plus.
4. Education or experience in cultural competency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Sensitivity to the issue of homelessness.
2. Strong interest in working with youth and young adults.
3. Strong personal boundaries very important.
4. Must have valid Washington State driver's license and have own transportation available with necessary insurance.
5. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
6. Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural competency.
