Job Description:

A non-profit Foundation with the mission to inspire and empower people to make smart food choices by educating them about the benefits of healthy eating and nutrition seeks an Executive Director. One of the exciting aspects of their work is the target population they educate -- the next generation. The Foundation has developed educational programs for direct work with 4th and 5th graders, partnering with both public and private institutions.
Founded in 2004, the Foundation has a solid foothold in the Seattle, WA area, and relatively new inroads in New York City. The talented instructors reach approximately 400 classrooms a year at present; the 5-10 year goal is to expand their impact to closer to 1,500 classrooms annually, providing important information about food choices to over 40,000 young people each year
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic, financial and operational responsibility for the Foundation's bi-coastal staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. S/he will have proven development skills and hit the ground running to gain a deep knowledge of the field, core programs, operations, and business plans. The staff is strong, and ready to take on more program management responsibilities, as the Executive Director focuses time and energy on increasing and diversifying the funding required to meet the goals for expansion.
Comfortable interacting with all ages, the ED will possess an outgoing personality that is also highly organized and able to juggle multiple priorities and projects. • Network locally and nationally, and across a variety of mediums to increase recognition and support for the Foundation's programs,
  • Support the work of the Board, and maintain strong communication with them, to preserve a collective vision and direction for the Foundation goals and activities,
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence and rigorous program evaluation, with effective data capture and reporting systems to track progress, evaluate program components and communicate those results,
  • Create and deliver presentations about the Program in front of large audiences, with diverse interests and in a variety of settings,
  • Identify and make initial contact with appropriate schools to participate in the Foundation's Program,
  • Create, implement and assess effectiveness of the Program's internal and external communications, and
  • Work with Foundation Board of Directors on all aspects of Foundation.
Job Requirements:
  • Four year college degree
