Position Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, talented, experienced director, who can ‘hit the ground running’ in leading our development team. We are embarking on a capital campaign to build a better future for homeless youth, and our new director will be an important part of maintaining a strong annual campaign and event effort during the coming years.
Friends of Youth is a not for profit organization committed to the support of youth and young adults in our community. We have three areas of service:
Residential Services, providing therapeutic residential services, including foster care and emergency shelter, to youth under 18;
Homeless Support Services, providing outreach, overnight shelter, case management, employment and housing for homeless youth and young adults;
Youth and Family Services, providing counseling, substance abuse treatment, prevention and parenting programs in East King County;
The Director of Development plans, organizes and manages Friends of Youth fundraising program, including annual campaigns, major donor solicitation, donor communications and fundraising events. The Director works to strengthen and develop our ties with community organizations, corporations, and individual supporters and oversees our volunteer program. The Director is also responsible for completing development work for the Friends of Youth Foundation.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in relevant field, with continuing professional development and education.
- Proven experience (5 years or more) in strategic fund development planning and implementation; securing major gifts; completing successful annual campaigns; securing foundation grants; completing sparkling and successful events; cultivating donors at all levels; and working with our board resource development committee and volunteer event committees.
- Proven experience in planning and strategy development for volunteer management.
- Proven track record establishing and achieving revenue objectives.
- Proven successful ability to develop work plans and manage multiple projects.
- Proven experience in developing successful relationships with businesses, community organizations, and board member-level volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Experienced supervisor of a team with a track record of forging strong working relationships both with and within the team.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals of diverse religious, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Ability and aptitude with current Microsoft Office suite.
- Commitment to the mission of Friends of Youth.
- Sense of humor and strong work ethic.
- Experience and relationships with Seattle and Eastside funders a plus.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
