Open Position: Executive Director

Kids’ Club at Stevens Elementary School, one of the few NAA accredited Before and After School programs in Washington state, is looking for a director to lead our high quality out of school program. We are searching for an individual who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and their families, while effectively and efficiently running all program operations.

At Kids’ Club our mission is to provide a safe, fun, and enriching out of school experience for the students and families of Stevens Elementary School and its surrounding area.  Children engage in independent and group decision-making so that they may pursue and expand their interests and talents through a variety of activities.  An evolving exploration of self and community encourages those participating in Kids Club to build relationships with peers and adults, explore diverse opportunities, and interact in a respectful and nurturing environment.

THE POSITION: The Executive Director reports to a volunteer Board of Directors and has administrative oversight and accountability for all aspects of the program’s operation and direction. Kids’ Club has about 9 staff and is licensed for up to 153 children.  

PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:

·         Program Planning, Curriculum Development and Administration: establish, implement and evaluate development programs/curriculum.  Maintain licensing, local contracts and alignment contracts.

·         Board Administration and Support: ensure effective development of a committed and active board.

·         Safety, Wellness and Facilities Management: establish and maintain an environment that ensures students’ healthy development, safety and nourishment.  Oversee compliance with state, local and other legal regulations pertaining to the health and safety of children and facilities expectations.

·         Financial Management:  direct the development and administration of budgets and financial records.

·         Human Resource Management: lead a team of professionals, providing support, leadership and direction consistent with program goals and objectives.

·         Marketing and Community Relations: represent and promote Kids’ Club with program parents, other organizations, individuals and the media.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must have 45 or more college quarter credits in early childhood/child development, elementary education or possess equivalent educational background courses such as recreation, physical education, music, art, home economics, psychology or social services.
  • Must complete a 20 hour STARS class or show documentation of an exemption within six months of hire.
  • Must have two or more years of successful experience working with school-age children as evidenced by professional references and on-the-job performance.
  • Must have planning, coordination and supervisory skills to implement a high quality, developmentally appropriate program.
  • Must demonstrate the understanding, ability, personality, emotional stability, and physical health suited to meet the cultural, emotional, mental, physical and social needs of the children in care.
  • Must have the approval of a Washington State Criminal records check or the FBI fingerprinting check if not a Washington State resident for the past three consecutive years.
  • A successful candidate must meet or develop a plan to meet the following licensing program requirements:
    • Current certification for CPR, First Aid and HIV/AIDS education instruction.
    • Documented negative TB test or doctor’s letter confirming a clear chest x-ray.
    • Valid Food Handler’s Permit. 
HOURS: 40 hours/week (Monday-Friday).  Evening and weekend hours for meetings, planning or special projects may be necessary at times.
