The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to 470 students in grades 6 through 12, including 75 international students. The School seeks an experienced Director of Admissions to lead and coordinate all aspects of the outreach, recruitment, application, and enrollment of Mission-appropriate students. This full-time, year-round administrator reports to the Head of School.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing all phases of the process of admission of new students to the school, including the accurate and efficient handling of applications, communications with candidates and their parents, visits to the school by prospective students and families, securing of all necessary supplemental materials for admission, and communicating final decisions to the applicant families
- Overseeing and managing the Admissions Office, the admissions budget, and the development of appropriate admissions and marketing materials
- Overseeing all admissions events and activities, including Open Houses, admissions fairs,ISEEtesting, and tour days
- Supervising the review of applicant files by the individual members of the Admissions Committees
- Managing all aspects of the Admissions Committee retreats
- Coordinating communication about admissions decisions with all applicant families
- Coordinating with the Director of Global Marketing and Programs all aspects of the School’s marketing and recruitment of international students
- Coordinating with the Financial Aid Director the process and awarding of financial aid to accepted candidates
- Overseeing the management of relevant statistics on all aspects of the admissions program
- Monitoring and analyzing local and national demographic trends that affect independent school enrollment
- Establishing, maintaining, and growing relationships with all feeder schools and educational consultants in the greaterSeattlearea
- Supervising the Admissions Office staff, including the Admissions Coordinator, Admissions Assistant, and International Admissions Coordinator
- Serving on the Administrative Team of the school
- Serving on the Financial Aid Policy Committee
- Attending all PNAIS admissions meetings
- MA Degree or equivalent experience and education
- Minimum of five years of previous Admission management experience
- Strong supervisory skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Intermediate aptitude with computer, including Excel, Word, Access, email software, basic internet research, and an aptitude to learn new software programs as needed
