Hours: 30 hours per week

Summary of Position: Capitol Hill & Stepping Stones is a case-management program that works with at-risk youth and young adults (age 26 and under) not currently served by other agencies. Our case management program advocates for clients needing housing, employment, education, legal and medical services and provides referrals to relevant community resources. CHCM also provides valuable one-on-one emotional support for the many youth who might not find it anywhere else. CHCM partners with Lambert House for on-site case management once a week, and is funded, in part, by the City of Seattle-Department of Human Services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work during drop-in hours at PSKS three days a week and Lambert House once a week
  • Refer participants to housing programs, legal services, chemical dependency treatment, counseling services, employment programs, and more.
  • Accompany clients to off-site appointments when necessary.
  • Help participants apply for government benefits.
  • Keep detailed case files (audited yearly by the City)
  • Prepare monthly report and budget summary.
  • Complete annual demographic report
  • Update United Way demographics monthly.
  • Assist with special events which may include evening and some weekends (flexible schedule)
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Take on everyday responsibilities of running a small grassroots agency, as necessary
Skills/Qualifications

  • Comfortable working in stressful environment
  • Comfortable working with individuals with chemical dependency and/or mental health issues in a harm reduction environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred.
  • Pet-friendly
  • Social justice and anti-oppression framework preferred.
  • Good sense of humor and ability to relate to young people
  • Strong time management skills
Education and Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a social service field
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field (5 years relevant experience can be substituted on a case by case basis)
Preferred

  • Masters degree in a relevant field
  • Experience working with homeless youth and young adults
Compensation

  • $16-$18 per hour DOE
