Summer Meals Program Coordinator Intern Description:
The Des Moines Food Bank is looking for Summer Meals Interns to assist the organization with administering a safe, successful, efficient and proactive Summer Nutrition Program for low-income children and teenagers. The Summer Meals Intern will assist with supervising youth intern as well as the day-to-day practices of the summer meals program.
Responsibilities
• Receive food and track inventory
• Ensure receipts and proper documentation are maintained
• Assist with menu planning
• Prepare, deliver, and serve lunch
• Assist with food pick-up as needed.
Key Skills/Requirements
• Valid WA state drivers license and clean driving record
• Organized
• Able to work with diverse populations
• Food Handler's Permit Required (will provide training)
• Ability to work independently
• Sense of humor
• Detail oriented
Education: Undergraduate or graduate student
Dates: 6/18-8/29
Hours: 25-30 hours a week, some evenings and some weekends
Priority will be given to applicants with experience working with children, and/or foreign language skills (particularly Spanish) preferred but not required.

Compensation:
Potential for college credit. Des Moines Area Food Bank will provide a $2,000 scholarship for undergraduates and a $3,000 dollar scholarship for graduate students to help with summer credit tuition costs.
