A. Position Description
Wraparound Family Partners collaborate, provide peer support and help facilitate services for families. This is a key position that works in close partnership with a Wraparound Therapist to lead our work with children, youth and families. Family Partners also help parents voice their own perspective and assure other team members are able to understand that perspective. They build confidence with parents that their family can be successful after services have been completed.

B. Position Responsibilities
1. Universal job skills: All CCS Family Preservation employees will demonstrate the ability to:
a. Communicate role, responsibility and agency philosophy in order to assure mutual respect, confidence and trust with the child and family and other stakeholders.
b. Provide non-judgmental, unconditional support to the child and family.
c. Assess for immediate safety and stabilization needs.
d. Customize helping approaches to fit the family's uniqueness, personality, culture and interest.
e. Report relevant information to the right people at the right time.
f. Maintain a focus on strengths, needs and creative solutions.
g. Utilize the family's expertise in problem solving and solution seeking.
h. Work interdependently with others toward common goals.
i. Respond to family's and children's needs in a timely fashion.
j. Complete required documentation within established timeframes.
k. Instill hope for the future by communicating and behaving with confidence and reassurance.

2. Welcome, Engagement and Assessment: The skilled Family Preservation Family Partner will demonstrate the ability to:
a. Meet and engage the family communicating compassion, support, respect and enthusiasm for them and your role as a helper.
b. Listen to and analyze the family's story, and with them, identify strengths, needs, preferences and goals.
c. Relate personal experience as a parent that will assist in building trust with the family.
d. Work with the family to identify and reach out to natural supports to gather their perspective on the family's strengths and needs and solicit participation and commitment to a team process.
e. Prepare the family for next steps in the intervention (e.g., team development, planning process, etc.).
f. Assess and review the parent's ability to communicate their own position and preferences.
g. Reassure and communicate hopefulness to parents and that "they are not in this alone."
h. Introduce and complete paperwork appropriate to the situation (including consents, release of information forms, etc.).

3. Individualized Service Planning: The skilled Family Preservation Family Partner will demonstrate the ability to:
a. Support/assist the family to maximize their participation and voice in the development of the plan.
b. Facilitate the child and family team to:
i. Identify and prioritize goals and needs.
ii. Communicate and translate information in a way that everyone can hear, especially the family's position.
iii. Brainstorm and negotiate strategies that build on child and family strengths.
iv. Summarize and write up the plan.

4. Implementing Services: The skilled Family Preservation Family Partner will demonstrate the ability to:
a. Provide a range of supportive/helpful interventions and activities as agreed to with the parent and documented in the plan.
b. Assist the parents in analyzing progress toward vision and goals and encourage their feedback to their team.
c. Communicate ideas by using own life as a learning and teaching tool (when helpful to family and plan).
d. Participate in continuous improvement efforts by sharing perspectives in agency activities such as Quality Improvement reviews, staffings or other means.
e. Seek assistance and report incidents to the right people at the right time.
f. Facilitate others, including a team, to implement the plan from beginning to successful outcome:
i. Communicate plan, strategies and role to team members, including involved CCS staff.
ii. Consult with, recommend and provide training to team members around specific interventions.
iii. Maintain a focus on strengths, needs and creative solutions and inspire others to follow this format in problem solving.
iv. Reevaluate, modify, and redesign plan based on new information.

5. Transitioning Services to Natural and Other Community Supports: The skilled Family Preservation Family Partner will demonstrate the ability to:
a. Reach agreement with the parent about their transition.
b. Inspire confidence in the child, family and other team members about their strengths and ability to transition successfully.
c. Arrange and negotiate a process for ongoing formal and informal services and supports.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Minimum Qualifications
1. Personal experience with a special-needs child who has been a recipient of community services within the past five years.
2. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, current automobile insurance.
3. Provide proof of acceptable driving abstract per CCS' driving standard's policy.
4. Pass background check through DSHS and Washington State Patrol.
5. Availability to work flexible hours (evenings, nights, weekends).
6. Proof of negative TB test within past 12 months.
7. Agency Affiliated Counselor's License (HIV/AIDS training required) or ability to obtain one shortly after hire.

B. Preferred Qualifications
1. One year relevant experience with social services and mental health agencies to working with people who need assistance.
