Behavior Specialist (Full time and part time positions available)
Seattle Community Care is seeking experienced professionals to join our team. As a Behavior Specialist you will work one-on-one with youth in school and in their homes. This position is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and provide support to youth that are both developmentally delayed and that have a mental illness. In the classroom, you will assist children in meeting their academic and social goals through therapeutic methods. Duties include but are not limited to, managing the behavior of the child, implementing the behavior plans established by the mental health agency, and recording data regarding the child's performance on a daily basis. Typical disorders of our clients are autism, attention-deficit disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and other developmental delays.
Essential duties of the Behavior Specialist:
- Ensure confidentiality and respect of the clients and families, the agency and team members.
- Create and maintain communication with the case manager, family and school team regarding the child's daily behaviors.
- Implement and assist in the design of a behavior plan that is targeted at reducing problematic behaviors and increasing desired behaviors.
- Document client activity and complete all paperwork in a timely manner such as time sheet, incident reports and daily classroom documentation.
- Provide a safe atmosphere for youth at all times through crisis intervention, conflict resolution and teaching problem solving skills.
- Driving to different work sites throughout the Seattle/Tacoma area.
Behavior Specialist positions are contract positions during weekdays, evenings, and weekend hours. Employment during school breaks during the year and in the summer is provided at our therapeutic summer camp and is based upon seniority.

Behavior Specialist School Positions (32-40 hrs per week):
- Degree required: BA/BS in a counseling related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Child CPR/First-Aid Certification within 90 days of hire
- Washington State Counselor Certification (willing to acquire)
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training (provided)
- Proof of auto insurance with business rating and driving abstract record
- Fingerprinting/ Criminal background check (prior to hire)
Behavior Specialist Wraparound Positions (15-25 hrs per week):
- Degree required: BA/BS in related field or equivalent work experience
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Experience working in a residential or group home setting
- Washington State Counselor Certification (if applicable)
Pay Structure:
Hourly positions begin at $13-$15/hr DOE. Benefits are available after 90 days and include 100% employer paid medical/dental/prescription and up to three weeks paid time off per year after one year.
Characteristics of desired employee are creativity, self-management, and reliability. Employee must have reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
