The Office of Youth and Young Adults Ministries of the Archdiocese of Seattle has an opening for a Assistant Director of Events and Service for Youth and Young Adults. This opening is to fill a vacant position.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION:
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:
Coordinates the logistics, marketing and staffing of events for youth, youth ministers and young adults in Western Washington within the operations of the Youth and Young Adult Ministry department. Develops, implements and oversees the One Week Service and Mission trips. Additionally serves as the onsite coordinate for many of these service programs. Fulfill all duties in accordance with the goals, policies and mission of the Office for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Under the direction of the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, ensures all programs embrace the vision of OYYAM and provide opportunities for evangelization and for youth and young adults to enter into a transformational relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
1. Coordinates young adult events, including Wine and Wisdoms, Service Weekends, monthly opportunities for prayer and other events as they arise. This will include collaborating with the Director to secure well qualified facilitators for various topics throughout the year. 2. Oversees the implementation of the One Week Service Program, which will include:
a. Working with contracted staff and he director to ensure programming is developed from the heart of the Church, and driven from the needs of our parish communities
b. Arranges for logistical needs of the program itself, which will include: securing facilities for use during these weeks, arranging for sufficient work sites for various sites, communicate with parishes and staff regularly to ensure information is available in a timely way.
c. Works with the One Week team to review, and when necessary change the curriculum for One Week.
d. Responsibly manages the resources of the office associated with youth service.

3. Assists the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry in outreach to universities, colleges and community colleges in Western Washington, without Catholic Campus Ministry programs. This will include coordinating student groups and providing resources for Catholic students on campuses.

4. Assists the Director in the planning and implementation of major events including High School Youth Convention (November) and Junior High Rally (March), The Archbishop's Holy Thursday Midnight Pilgrimage, Archbishop's Young Adult Pilgrimage and World Youth Day etc. Responsibilities will include, serving on the planning team, managing contracts with vendors, and communication with speakers and presenters and coordinating the evaluation process for these events and other tasks as necessary.

5. Manages the development and maintenance of web and print communication and publicity as it relates to Young Adult Ministry efforts.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Primary:
a) Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
b) Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
c) Active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Church.

2. Education:
a) BA degree in related field or significant qualifying experience.

3. Experience:
a) At least 2 years experience working with youth and young adults in a faith setting.
b) Experience planning events on both a small and large scale.
c) Experience with mission trip planning, and knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching.
d) Demonstrated successful experience working with people from various economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
e) Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and web-based technologies.
f) Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

4. Other Elements:
a) Commitment to the mission and values of OYYAM.
b) Strong demonstrated competence in interpersonal and public relations skills.
c) Strong written and verbal communications skills including the ability to conduct presentations and training programs.
d) Ability to work evenings and/or weekends if necessary.
e) Ability to provide own transportation and must possess a valid Washington State driver's License.
