The Smilow Clubhouse & Teen Center @ Rainier Vista Boys and Girls Club is seeking an exceptional individual to provide excellent programming and support for our 2012 Summer Program which runs from June 11th-August 24th, 2012. This position will serve within our licensed childcare program. This program serves ages 5-9.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for supporting the Childcare Department in its delivery of a broad range of 5-10 year old youth development programs. Will support Childcare Department to ensure quality outcome based programming is planned and delivered. Support the implementation and supervision of outcome based programs and department responsibilities. Support departmental participation in all applicable BGCKC-wide events (i.e. Sports Field Day, Best of Both Worlds, Youth of the Year, Keystone, Torch, etc.) Work in partnership with the Childcare Director to ensure programming goals and benchmarks are met. This position is a non-supervisory position. Primary areas of management include: Developing curriculum/lesson plans for various age groups, Childcare homework/power hour program and other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support Childcare Director in building and maintaining partnerships with parents, families, community leaders, and organizations
2. Maintain good public relations
3. Support the organization and facilitation of weekly staff meetings
4. Support annual and other Club program evaluations
5. May participate in special programs or events
6. Maintain good working relationship with all Childcare staff members.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor. Communicate daily to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions. Collaborate with other Clubs as appropriate.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, member's parents and others as necessary to be successful in position and as directed by Branch Executive Director
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Two or Four year degree in related field from an accredited college or university
• Minimum Three years applicable experience
• Knowledge of youth development principles
• Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program, must be 21 years old or older to drive Club owned and operated vehicles
• Successful completion of National Criminal History Background check
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
• Knowledge and/or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Good organization and attention to detail, professional presence, strong customer relations skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Experience in youth development principles, ability to motivate youth in a positive way
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to learn and implement new ideas for the good of the Club
• Ability to manage support staff
• Experience in working with 5-12 year olds

Hours: Hours will vary each day, but will be set by the Childcare Director at 32 hours each week (not to exceed 35 hours each week for any reason). Must be available M-F from June 11-August 24.
Salary Range: $9-$11 per hour
