POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

RECREATION ASSISTANT
Kent Youth & Family Services is currently recruiting for the part-time, non-exempt position of Recreation Assistant for the Birch Creek and Valli Kee Public Housing Community Centers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the support of daily on-site supervision of recreational activities at their assigned Public Housing community Center. The Site Assistant will work closely with the Outreach Site Supervisor in program development and serve as liaison between housing residents and Kent Youth and Family Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS;
1. High school diploma or equivalent experience working with youth.
2. Must be a mature, responsible and positive role model for children and youth.
3. Must have good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with youth, community residents, other staff, and service providers.
4. Must be willing to provide direct leadership and supervision of youth during activities.
5. Experience working with low-income, culturally, and racially diverse youth and their families.
6. Must have skill and experience in planning and implementing recreational activities for youth or have the determination to learn.
7. Must have or be able to acquire a CPR and first aid certificate.
8. Must possess valid WA State driver's license and successfully complete insurance check.
7. Must successfully pass Washington State Patrol criminal background check.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
2. Must be able to travel to meetings and sites.
3. Must be able to provide transportation for youth and adults in Agency vans.
4. Must be able to work with a large group of youth and withstand increased noise levels.
5. Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
6. Physical agility to participate and supervise youth recreational activities.

HOURS & COMPENSATION: 20 hours per week, varies Wed-Sun. Compensation based on Agency wage structure and qualifications. Eligible for pro-rated benefits.
