JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Intake Specialist II - Mental Health
DEPARTMENT: Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) Program
PURPOSE: Responsible for culturally competent and person-centered intake and assessment services for CYF Program. Ensures efficient and accurate assessment diagnostic work and tier placement according to Medical Necessity Criteria. Performs crisis intervention over the phone and in-person. Assesses potential funding sources (Medicaid and non-Medicaid) for clients and coordinate insurance and private party billings as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Performs initial intake to children and youth at the agency and off-site, to include: person-centered intake assessments and assigns service tier level; gives provisional diagnosis by using DSM IV TR; develops initial service care plan based on intake assessment; assesses potential funding sources (Medicaid, Non-Medicaid) for clients and coordinates tier requests, insurance and private pay billings.
2. Completes all of the required documentation and reports relevant to public payors, such as Medicaid and other third party payors, such as private insurers, in a timely manner. Expected to meet program paperwork / documentation standards according to agency policies and system standards.
3. Provides initial phone and walk-in screening. Provides back-up in information and referral regarding mental health services including other providers and other children's systems.
4. Performs crisis intervention (including referrals to other provider's) over the phone and in-person.
5. Participates in individual supervision, training, meetings, consultations, and conferences.
6. Coordinates and cooperates with other agencies, organizations, and natural supports on client evaluation.
7. Provide team back up when case coverage is needed and assists in the orientation and training of new staff, as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be Washington Mental Health Professional and have: Master's degree in social work or social/behavioral science with Two (2) year of counseling experience emphasis in mental health;
• Preferred Licensed Mental Health Professional.
• Preferred ability to understand, speak, write, and read Asian Pacific Islander language and English. Knowledge of APA cultures is required.
• Strong diagnostic/assessment skills, effective written and oral communication skills, ability to respond effectively in crisis and emergency cases, strong organizational/time management skills.
• Knowledge of: child development principles and characteristics of mental, behavioral, and emotional problems; current social/economic problems; interview techniques; individual and group behavior; treatment methods with children, and community resources.
• Effective interview techniques & ability to work with team.
• Employee must have a vehicle or reliable transportation to fulfill all job duties. If using personal or agency vehicle, this includes valid current Driver's license and must be insurable under agency's auto policy. If using personal vehicle, must have current auto insurance.
STATUS: Regular / Part-time (.50 FTE)
SALARY: $1,556.17 to $1,700.46 / month, depending on experience
