Position Title: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Case Aide

Status: Full-time
Salary Range: $14.18 per hour

Classification: Non-Exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: This position is full time and non-exempt, Tuesday - Saturday and may require working some evenings.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Case Aide at Casa de los Amigos will be responsible for the day-to-day assistance in case management and mental health services and coordination with Homeland Security's Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) Juvenile Coordinator for the Unaccompanied Minor youth placed in the Shelter under the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Duties include all initial intake and exit paperwork, crisis intervention, transportation, and ensuring clients meet all immigration related court appointments and requirements. This position requires shift responsibilities, a high degree of flexibility in responding to emergent needs of youth in crisis, and good organizational and documentation skills.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide assistance to up to two case managers and one mental health therapist (filing and other administrative tasks).
• Facilitate incoming and outgoing phone calls for up to twenty clients (one time per week).
• Facilitate in faxing documentation to sponsors, other care providers, and ICE.
• Advocate for and educate clients on immigrant rights and restrictions.
• Data entry by assisting in compiling and entering family reunification packets in ETO.
• Review and close case files.
• Facilitate new intakes orientation.
• Ensure current case files have all required case management documentation and assist in filing of paperwork.
• Provide transportation for fly-out purposes (to airport only) and transportation for legal appointments, as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIREMENTS:
• Fluency in Spanish and English, or highly proficient level of Spanish/English-speaking ability.
• Able to read and write in both Spanish and English
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet participants' and program needs.
• High School diploma/GED.
• One year working with homeless, at risk or immigrant youth.
• Understanding of issues affecting youth who are homeless and population resources.
• Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.
• Ability to maintain professional behavior by keeping appropriate boundaries with youth and staff members of Casa de los Amigos program.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Able to operate a 15-passenger van.
• Ability to pass a DSHS Criminal Background Check.
• Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients while building trust and respect.
• Ability to verbally and physically respond to an aggressive person in ways that de-escalate, establish and maintain staff and youth safety.

PREFERENCES:
• BA in Psychology, Social Service or related field and one year experience, or three years comparable experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to perform moderate physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to climb and descend stairs within a 60 second time frame, a minimum of 10 times a shift.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS -- Within 30 Days of Hire
• Must have current negative TB test
• CPR / First Aid Certification
• Food Handler's Card
• HIV / AIDS Training (minimum 4 hours)
• De-escalation Training
• When driving YouthCare vehicles, you must possess a valid WA State Drivers License and have taken Van Driver Certification Training or an approved Defensive Driving Course.
