Position Title: Program Officer, Career Services
Department: Programs – College and Alumni Services
Reports to: Senior Program Officer, College and Alumni Services
FLSA Status: Exempt – Full Time
Summary: The Program Officer will be responsible for identifying students for internships and job opportunities. The Program Officer will work with other College Success Foundation (CSF) staff and partners including campus Career Services Offices, BOLD companies, and human service organizations, to aid CSF scholars and alumni in their job search and career development. In addition, the Program Officer will provide direct support to students through regional workshops on résumé writing, job search strategies, mock interviews, interests and strengths inventory, and 90-second pitch exercises.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a member of the College & Alumni Services team to support the goals of the Center for Career Success.
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with companies and human service organizations to promote and support CSF scholars and their pathway to careers.
  • Partner with other CSF staff, Passport navigators, and College Mentor Contacts to develop effective and sustainable Center outreach and recruitment strategies.
  • Advocate for CSF program by attending and participating in community functions and programs that will enhance the visibility of CSF programs.
  • Create curriculum and facilitate trainings on career development topics such as resume writing, mock interview, networking tips, etc.
  • Coordinate and implement college recruiting initiatives.
  • Develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.
  • Partner with IT and other Alumni staff to create and maintain systems for data collection that demonstrate outcomes, analysis and program evaluation.
  • Produce regular reports necessary for the Foundation and external funder(s).
  • Monitor and complete timely reports of all statewide visits, including number of students contacted and a synopsis of any issues raised important to Foundation efforts and/or other staff.
  • Manage and maintain the data portal and tracking system, including data entry and report creation and output. With the use of these tools, track participation in accordance with Alumni program/Center for Career Success metrics.
  • Monitor program objectives, outcomes and budgets as needed.
  • Contribute to the biannual grant reports to funders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Primary Interactions:
  • Students, College Services, the AmeriCorps College and Career Readiness staff and members, other Program Development and CSF staff.
Qualifications:
  • Work well under pressure, is able to multitask, prioritize and delegate.
  • Outgoing, personable, able to relate well with diverse groups, with particular emphasis on working with young people ages 18-25.
  • Possess excellent people skills, have a passion for youth, and be a team player.
  • Highly organized.
  • Experience in project management processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of five years experience in fields related to career services, student affairs, leadership development, human relations, teaching or counseling.
  • A strong customer service orientation, leadership skills and attention to details are essential, along with excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication, presentation, and networking skills.
  • Proficiency using Social media, Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to travel within Washington State and have access to a reliable transportation, valid Washington State driver’s license and automobile insurance.

Work is generally conducted in an office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.

Travel is required at least 30% of the time.
