Description


Position Title: Director, Scholarship Services
Department: Programs/Scholarship Services
Reports to: Chief Academic Officer
FLSA Status: Exempt – Full Time

Summary:
Provides leadership to the Scholarship Services team to accomplish essential duties which include: recommending strategies and options for managing new scholarship programs; development of scholarship application and processes; collaborating with marketing department to promote scholarship programs; selecting scholarship recipients; coordinating CSF scholarships with colleges and Scholars; managing scholarship expenditures and reconciliation of funds between CSF and college partners; and, collaboration with IT department to maintain Scholar records from application through college graduation. Supervises several staff in the department and works collaboratively with CSF executives and managers to accomplish the Foundation’s goals and program objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Recommend strategic plans for establishment of new CSF scholarship programs, including:
    • Development of application, selection and enrollment models for scholarship administration which include projected scholarship awards, student enrollment yields, retention rates, graduation rates and annual and cumulative projected costs.
    • Recommend staffing levels to manage the programs.
    • Work with CSF executives and managers to capitalize on and promote CSF strengths and expertise.
    • Recommend scholarship selection strategies for meeting donor and program needs.
  • Supervise staff to accomplish scholarship program objectives.
    • Develop scholarship application and processes, including:
      • Meet donor and program needs.
      • Determine efficient and effective processes.
      • Support research and evaluation.
    • Collaborate with marketing department to promote CSF scholarship programs, including:
      • Washington State Achievers Scholarship.
      • Governors’ Scholarship.
      • Leadership 1000 Scholarship.
      • Washington State Opportunity Scholarship.
      • Realize the Dream Scholarship.
    • Select Scholars to meet donor and program requirements.
    • Coordinate CSF scholarships with colleges and Scholars.
    • Collaborate with IT department to maintain an efficient system for tracking Scholar records from application through graduation from college.
    • Manage CSF scholarship expenditures, including providing annual projections of scholarship expenditures and reconciliation of funds between CSF and college partners.
    • Provide reports on CSF managed scholarship programs as needed to donors, colleges and CSF executives.
    • Work closely with colleges and other agencies to provide reports to CSF executives on other programs such as Costco Scholarships, Chateau Ste. Michelle
      Scholarships and GET Ready for Math and Science Scholarships.
    • Serve on the CSF leadership team.
    • Serve on the CSF Board’s Program Development Committee.
    • Contribute to other CSF activities as requested.
  • Monitor and edit data, create actions on constituent records to document conversations and run queries and other standard reports in Education Edge.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Scholarship Services Team

Qualifications:
  • Must be upbeat, positive, outgoing, personable, able to relate well with diverse populations.
  • Must be creative and able to problem solve in a work environment composed of a small mission-focused team working together to accomplish to goals of the Foundation.
  • Must have a proven record of achievement in service, research and administration; outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; technological literacy; commitment to fiscal responsibility.
  • Must have knowledge of statistical techniques and research methodology; good analytical skills; and the ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Must be a skillful user of Microsoft Office products with high proficiency in Word and Excel required.
Requirements:
  • A commitment to the mission of the College Success Foundation.
  • A four-year bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Eight or more years of experience of related higher education, student financial aid and/or scholarship management experience.
  • Requires a depth of scholarship administration, having worked at least five years in scholarship administration with colleges or other scholarship agencies.

Travel is required 0-10% of the time.

Salary will be commensurate based on the applicant’s education level, relative work experience, and other attributes.
