Children's Minister (West Seattle)

Hope Lutheran Church & School, a church of 350+ in Seattle, seeks a Children's Minister to lead and nurture an existing vibrant and growing children's ministry program involving 70+ kids. Working closely with the Senior Pastor and Parish Administrator, this position will oversee a ministry to children between the ages of three and grade 5, helping them develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is a part-time hourly position, expected to average 10 hours per week with direct responsibility primarily on Sunday mornings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, direct, lead and focus programs of nurture, service, education and fellowship for the children, including Sunday School, Children's Church and Vacation Bible School, monthly activities and seasonal/holiday activities.
- Identify, recruit, train and mentor adult volunteers in providing programs and planned activities.
- Coordinate program development to ensure a balanced program for the entire church/school entity.
- Encourage teamwork and mutual support by providing leadership and nurture to other staff members and volunteers who work to support this ministry.
- Work to prepare children spiritually to be active participants when entering the youth ministries.
- Attend limited staff meetings and committee meetings as a resource and for information purposes.
- Prepare information to keep parents, visitors, and Church members aware of Children's Ministy programs and events.
- Coordinate the use of facilities, plan and adhere to an appropriate budget.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A proven genuine love for children and an evidence of a calling to serve in this ministry.
- A relevant college degree from an accredited school.
- Demonstrated high level of organizational and leaderships skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with and communicate easily with people of all ages and personalities.
- Basic personal computer skills.
- Must promote a positive, Christian attitude in all work activities
