Title: Full-time Computer Teacher and IT Specialist
Working Hours: Full-time (40+ hours per week)
Closing Date: Open position until filled

Description: Eastside Academy (www.eastsideacademy.org) is a non-profit, Christian alternative high school (grades 9 -- 12) for highly at-risk youth. Eastside Academy is housed on the campus of First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue and currently serves 40 high school students with a teaching staff of five.

Responsibilities:
• Work with the Director of Education to formulate EA technology curriculum
• Plan and implement instruction consistent with the school approved curriculum for technology using inquiry-based and student centered methods
• Select 3 or more students each year who demonstrate advanced potential in technology and work closely with them to enhance their technology skills
• Run the IT Help Desk for EA, maintaining all computers and the server for EA
• Manage IT network, hardware and software
• Provide teacher training and direct student instruction in the use of computer technology and software
• Help facilitate computer integration into the classroom curriculum to accommodate individual student learning needs and provide technical support
• Assist in writing grants to secure computer hardware, software and other forms of assistive technology
• Submit quarterly syllabi prior to the start of each quarter for all classes
• Promote an effective system of student responsibility and accountability
• Promote a classroom environment that respects the dignity of the student and is perceived by the students as equitable, consistent, and based on clear expectations
• Modify instruction to meet the needs of the students
• Employ a variety of methods and materials that will provide a holistic approach to students' learning academically, spiritually, and emotionally
• Effectively manage classroom by implementing discipline, time management, and organization consistent with school policy
• Participate in ongoing staff development and school functions

Qualifications:
• Be a professing Christian and a member of a church or Christian community
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree (required) or a Master's Degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university
• Be able to work and live in harmony with the core values and affirmations of the Eastside Academy
• Demonstrate experience and competence in the requirements for this position, particularly in having experience working with at-risk youth
• Hands-on background in computer technology and some familiarity with application software used for website, database management, and basic programming languages
• Background with hardware configuration as well as networking experience
