All
Girl Everything Ultimate Program (AGE UP) is an empowerment-based youth
leadership program for teen girls in South Seattle. We use girls’ passion for
Ultimate Frisbee as a hook to engage them in long-term intentional work
developing critical awareness, leadership skills, positive identity and
community. We are based
at Jefferson Community Center and are dedicated to serving low income girls of
color in South Seattle. We partner with and recruit heavily from the Ultimate
Frisbee programs at Aki Kurose and Asa Mercer Middle Schools, South Shore K-8,
and Franklin and Cleveland High Schools. Currently 80% of our program
participants are from the South end and over 80% are girls of color.
Overall Responsibilities
The Program Development Coordinator will work closely with the AGE UP
Leadership Team to build capacity in four areas: volunteer management, program
documentation, fundraising, and program evaluation. The VISTA’s task is to
develop sustainable program systems and infrastructure that will drive the
future of AGE UP. The Coordinator will report to the Site Supervisor but must
be able to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including the AGE UP
Leadership Team, AGE UP youth participants, adult volunteers, allies, community
partners, and funders. This
placement offers the unique opportunity to work in a young, dynamic program
that uses the sport and community of Ultimate Frisbee to support the
empowerment of young women. We operate with a critical anti-oppression analysis
and strive to be intentional in everything we do, while also having fun.
Responsibilities Include:
•
Manage AGE UP adult volunteers and create a system for
tracking and evaluating volunteer engagement.
•
Develop a program documentation system that centralizes
record keeping.
•
Create a long-range fundraising plan.
•
Organize a fundraising event in collaboration with AGE UP
youth participants.
•
Implement
AGE UP’s awesome youth participatory evaluation system and compile outcomes
report that will inform future programming.
•
Strengthen
community partnerships and develop new strategic collaborations.
Hours and Days Needed
The VISTA Member is expected to serve a flexible 40 hour week, including one to two evenings a week until 8:30pm. This includes required weekly Leadership Team meetings, Site Supervisor check-ins, and Sound Youth VISTA Team meetings on Fridays twice a month.
