Status: Full-Time Salary Range: $48,000 to $55,000
Closing Date: 7/9/2012 Classification: Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE:

Full-time, in addition to a set Monday-Friday schedule, this position requires the ability to be flexible and work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and on call responsibilities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Programs, the Manager of Homelessness Prevention Programs will lead YouthCare’s efforts to prevent youth and young adult homelessness. The Manager of Homelessness Prevention Programs is responsible for the implementation, growth, overall quality and outcomes of Prevention programming.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with agency leadership, program staff, and community partners to design and implement prevention programming to provide early intervention for runaways, intensive case management for youth and families at risk of homelessness, and facilitate family connections for runaway and homeless youth.
  • Responsible for all aspects of program management and development.
  • Ensure procedures and policies are documented and followed, and updated as needed, to meet the needs of youth, families and the agency.
  • Experience effectively managing escalated situations and ability to provide training and guidance to program staff as needed.
  • Responsible for prevention programs contract/grant management and meeting contractual requirements. Create and oversee annual budgets. Regularly monitor program expenditures per budget. Monitor program goals to ensure outcome expectations are met.
  • Provide strong direction, leadership and supervision to Prevention Team members. Responsible for the professional development of staff, including feedback to team concerning policy, procedures and staff areas of responsibility in a constructive fashion and conducing regular performance evaluations.
  • Initiate, develop and foster collaborations within the community. Act as a professional representative of YouthCare in public forums.
  • Work cooperatively with other YouthCare programs, families, community agencies, Law Enforcement, DCFS/DLR personnel, staff from other agencies, and
    others as needed in the implementation of programs.
  • Must attend work regularly, as well as scheduled meetings outside of regular working hours.
  • Follow agency policies and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MSW or MA in counseling or related field from accredited graduate school and minimum one year experience supervising staff.
  • Experience working with homeless and/or at-risk youth. Ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships with youth. Focus on and an understanding of youth development and leadership practices.
  • Direct experience providing clinical services, including case management and/or emergency services. Ability to remain calm and focused in volatile situations. Demonstrated experience providing crisis intervention.
  • Demonstrated skill in staff supervision and understanding of staff development principles. Strong team leadership and team development skills.
  • Experience with contract/grant management principles, budget development, and program management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional behavior / appropriate boundaries with youth and staff members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self starter with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • A valid Washington State Driver’s license and the ability to operate a 15-passenger van.
  • Ability to pass a DSHS Criminal Background Check.

PREFERENCES:
  • One year post-masters in clinical setting.
  • Fully licensed and able to provide staff with individual or group supervision
    hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force
    occasionally and 10 to 20 pounds frequently.

  • Must have current negative TB test
  • CPR / First Aid Certification
  • Food Handler’s Card
  • HIV / AIDS Training (minimum 4 hours)
  • De-escalation Training
  • When driving YouthCare vehicles, you must possess a valid WA State Drivers License and have taken Van Driver Certification Training or an approved Defensive Driving Course.
