Education Advisor (Tacoma)


Seeking Education Advisor to provide educational advising and career resources for adults wishing to pursue post secondary education.

Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree. The incumbent must successfully pass a Criminal history background check, have a valid/current Washington State Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to selection, reliable personal transportation and personal auto insurance.

Desirable Qualifications:
-Previous Trio or similar program experience
-Experience assisting or serving low-income adult participants or youth participants ages 18 and older
-Degree in Social Services, Sociology, Counseling, Urban Studies, or similar/related field.
-Working knowledge of foreign language of significance in Pierce County such as: Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, or Russian
-Experience with the workforce development system, job coaching/training, or related experience.

-Ability to take initiative
-Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
-Ability to relate to people from different socio-economic and multicultural backgrounds
-Able to lead on projects or initiatives as necessary
-Ability to work independently

-Strong communication, diplomatic and cooperative skills.
