Mentor Program Coordinator

Position Description:
The Mentor Program Coordinator
works under the supervision of the Communities In Schools of Federal Way
Executive Director, and collaborates with the Federal Way School District
(FWPS), to coordinate all aspects of the Mentor Programs. This includes
recruitment; public relations; mentor support including providing on-going
communications, organizing special events, monitoring volunteers, maintaining/
updating training and support materials; monitoring budgets and program
evaluation. The Mentor Program Coordinator also supports the Executive Director
as needed relating to other programs.
Specific Responsibilities
• Plan and implement volunteer recruitment and community outreach strategies
• Follow-up with potential volunteers
• Schedule and coordinate program activities, including orientation, training, support meetings, and special events
• Approve mentor/volunteer applications and reference letters
• Maintain database for mentors/mentees/matches/prospects
• Coordinate school building support for all programs
• Coordinate placement and resolve “match” issues for mentors/mentees
• Maintain, develop, and implement mentor recognition strategies and events
• Oversee communication with mentors, including managing email distribution list and mentor newsletter
• Update mentor program information on CIS website
• Develop and coordinate special events for mentors/mentees/other volunteers and programs as needed
• Enforce adherence to program guidelines
• Coordinate site visits for potential funders/volunteer groups
• Compile information and write board/grant reports
• Maintain program budget
• Compile/analyze/report on evaluation data to include volunteer hours, annual participant surveys, and individual student outcomes
• Assist with CISFW public relations and marketing as related to the mentor program
• Attend board committee meetings as needed for coordinated efforts
• Share mentor program information as requested
Position Status: Exempt, 1.0 FTE (40 hrs/week). Some evening and weekend work required.
Location: Federal Way. Must have access to reliable transportation for travel to school sites, attend off-site meetings, transporting supplies, etc.
Benefits: Medical, paid vacation, flex-time, sick and holiday time.
Pay Range: $32,000 – $45,000 annual salary. Commensurate with experience.
