WORK SCHEDULE: This position is full time and non-exempt. Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday (flexible hours) and occasional Saturday engagement activities.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Basic Services Manager, the Case Manager will be responsible for the coordination of services for youth utilizing the James W. Ray Orion Center.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Provide a minimum of 20 hours weekly direct contact with participants, including face-to-face counseling, advocacy and transportation and assisting youth in meeting their basic needs of food, housing and safety.

• Assess participants in need of services, develop and document service plans on participants that include linkages with family, other YouthCare components or external providers as clinically appropriate.

Work with client and internal and external staff to ensure follow-through.

• Link youth to opportunities that allow them to gain skills to become successful adults.

• Act as a mentor and advocate for youth participants.

• Engage youth through strengths-based and harm reduction approaches.

• Complete and submit all documentation and grant reporting in a timely manner.

• Participate in weekly or bi-monthly supervision meetings and in monthly clinical consultation.

• Maintain a caseload of 25-35 participants as well as case files in accordance with funder requirements.

• Attend a minimum of six in-service trainings annually.

• Attend monthly grant funder sponsored meetings as required for position.

• Spend at least five hours weekly in drop-in areas, providing a link between case management and other Orion services.

• Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


PREFERENCES:

• Experience working with homeless youth.

• Bilingual Spanish/English.


REQUIREMENTS:

• BA required or three years working with homeless youth.

• Understanding of issues affecting youth who are homeless and population resources.

• Experience working in crisis situations and with de-escalation techniques.

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet participants' and Center's needs.

• Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.

• Ability to maintain professional behavior by keeping appropriate boundaries with youth and staff members of the Orion Center.

• Ability to work as a member of a team.

• Able to operate a 15-passenger van.

• Ability to pass a DSHS Criminal Background Check.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to perform moderate physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 20 pounds frequently.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS -- Within 30 Days of Hire

• Must have current negative TB test

• CPR / First Aid Certification

• HIV / AIDS Training (minimum 4 hours)

• When driving YouthCare vehicles, you must possess a valid WA State Drivers License and have taken Van Driver Certification Training or an approved Defensive Driving Course.
