Development Associate
Teens In Public Service (TIPS) seeks a (30 hours/week)
Development Associate.
TIPS is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing
future leaders committed to their communities.
TIPS selects teenage leaders for paid community service internships and
places them in charitable organizations for the summer. This position reports to the organization's
Executive Director and will work on-site at the organization's office located
near U-Village.
The Development Associate will become an important part
of the team. You will be responsible for a variety of grant writing and
administrative duties.
Pay depending on experience $14.00 to $18.00 per hour
depending on experience, health care coverage after 3 months on the job.
Grant Seeking
* Responsible for conducting the full range of activities
required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to foundation and
corporate sources.
* Perform prospect research on foundations and
corporations to evaluate prospects.
* Work with Executive Director to gather information
necessary to report to funders on current and/or completed grant programs.
* Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate
funders.
* Provide regular written updates/reports to current and
past foundation/corporate funders.
* Assist the Executive Director in scheduling and
preparing visits to foundations, and accompany when feasible.
* Coordinate arrangements for on-site visits and tours
for foundation/corporate funders.
* Maintain current records in database and in paper
files, including grant tracking and reporting.
* Assist with special activities that increase TIPS's
visibility among foundation/corporate funder audiences.
Donor Fundraising
* Prepare introductory mailings to prospective donors,
and coordinate follow-up activities.
* Coordinate direct mail solicitations.
* Prepare
acknowledgment letters.
* Maintain both electronic and hard-copy donor files.
* Respond to queries, electronic and otherwise, from
prospective donors.
Overall Fundraising Program
* Assist the Executive Director with
developing/implementing the annual fundraising plan.
* Assist, as needed, with the development of promotional materials.
* Participate in professional development activities to
enhance knowledge and skills, including subscribe to and read fundraising
periodicals, journals and e-newsletters attend, professional development conferences,
and other related activities.
Other Responsibilities
* Tracking and recruiting volunteers on a project to
project basis.
* Conducting bulk mailings.
* Assist with Online/Web management.
* Be a part of launching and implementing our Online
Social Media Strategy.
* Manage all office equipment including computers,
network and telephone.
* Work with IT chair to make sure all computers are up to
date on all programs.
* Knowledge of Quickbooks-Accounts Receivable, Accounts
Payable and all banking activities.
* Maintain all accounts payable accounts folders.
* Intern timesheet management.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong written communication skills; ability to write
clear, structured, articulate and persuasive funding proposals.
* Strong editing skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Commitment to accuracy.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of fundraising information resources,
particularly for foundation and corporate grantseeking.
* Experience with writing letters of inquiry.
* Experience with writing concept proposals.
* Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and
strategies.
* Core computer skills in word processing, data base
management, spreadsheets and electronic communications
(such as VR e-mail, creating
distribution lists, participating in listserves, generating e-newsletters,
etc.)
Qualifications:
* Undergraduate degree.
* Minimum of 1 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
* Minimum of 1 years with grant writing experience.
* Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
* Ability to
handle multiple concurrent assignments and meet deadlines.
* Experience
working with Salesforce and Quickbooks.-please detail experience in cover

* Highly skilled
in Microsoft Office programs and Social Marketing experience.
* Working
knowledge of web sites and how to update and maintain organization's website.
Compensation:
* Benefits include 10 days of vacation, sick leave, and
11 paid holidays plus the office is closed between xmas and New Year's.

a flexible hours including occasionally evenings and weekends
