Development and Communications Associate (Tacoma)

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Development and Communications, the Development and Communications Associate is responsible for developing and implementing the organization's communications plan as well as producing all communications-related materials. Additional responsibilities include assisting with special event planning/coordination as well as assist with the development of funding proposals.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
1. Develop and implement an approved annual communications plan.
2. Perform annual assessment of communications efforts.
3. Develop, create and maintain branded marketing materials and content including brand identity, print collateral, e-mail communications, presentation materials, online and print advertising, videos, and other communications-related materials.
4. Manage online presence including social media, blogs, web design and maintenance. 
5. In collaboration with program and administrative staff, coordinate annual website plan.
6. Oversee strategy and manage production of all public relations efforts--including PSAs and press releases.
7. Coordinate and lead community outreach efforts such as booths, conferences and presentations.
8. Plan and assist with coordination of TCH functions and events.
9. Manage internal communication standards and processes including email signatures and other internal agency marketing strategies.
10. Establish and cultivate relationships with community members.
11. Document relationships, encounters, prospects, and other pertinent information in The Raiser's Edge database.
12. Assist with the development of funding proposals (e.g., corporate sponsorships, grants, etc.).
13. Assist with supervision of Development and Communications interns.
14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Skills Required:
- A high level of creativity and graphic design skills 
- Ability to work well under pressure, rapidly assess problems, develop solutions, and deploy limited resources effectively
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines 
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, affinity for establishing and managing relationships, and demonstrated high level of confidence and poise. 
- Excellent writing, public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent computer skills, including: working in a Microsoft Windows and Office environment, database management and record keeping. 
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment 
- Broad knowledge of the local and regional philanthropic community
- Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends 

Skills Desired: 
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro or other video editing software
- Knowledge and experience working with The Raiser's Edge 
- Photography skills
- Ability to lift up to 50-lbs 
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurance 
- Reliable mode of transportation 

Experience:
- A minimum of three years experience in resource development, marketing and/or related fields, preferably in the nonprofit sector
- Demonstrated success in communications programming, grant writing and development, public relations, and special events coordination 
- Knowledge of effective social media strategies 
- Experience in graphic and/or layout design 
- Experience in website design and/or maintenance 
- Experience with visual brand identity development

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$31,500 to $37,500 (40 Hours/Week, Non-Exempt) -- DOE. Benefits include, medical, dental, pension, life and long-term disability insurance, paid holidays, sick leave, and a generous vacation plan.
