TEAMCHILD: TeamChild is a nonprofit organization that provides free civil legal representation for 12-18 year old youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system. Clients come to TeamChild for help asserting their civil legal rights in the community, including the right to education, mental health and medical care, safe and stable living situations and other social services that help address the causes underlying their involvement in the justice system. TeamChild works collaboratively with public defenders, juvenile courts and the community to positively impact the young person's offender matter and reduce further contact with the courts. JOB DESCRIPTION & DUTIES: The Program Assistant plays a critical role in TeamChild's work in King County and in its statewide operations. This full-time position will support all aspects of advocacy, office administration, communications and fundraising efforts. In addition to the job duties described below, this position offers ample opportunities for professional development and increased program responsibilities.
Provide a full range of general office/administrative support to staff in the main Seattle office and help to coordinate administrative activities in county offices;
Respond to inquiries for information from the general public, including providing referrals to other service providers when necessary;
Manage flow of referrals by conducting intake screenings of youth and entering pertinent information into our case management system;
Provide logistical support to staff attorneys in casework and litigation, and conduct research on areas relevant to clients as needed;
Manage TeamChild's social media efforts, including content generation and daily postings;
Act as Project Manager for TeamChild's annual Online Auction and provide other fund development support as needed;
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have exceptional organizational and communication skills, including attention to detail, and an ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and creatively problem solve. Must be comfortable with standard office technology and possess strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access) and online applications like Facebook and Twitter. Experience with project management and editing are strongly desired. Must be respectful and open to working with people from diverse backgrounds and work well both as a team member and independently. Background and/or strong interest in working with disenfranchised people, especially youth, a plus. Bachelor's degree preferred. Sense of humor necessary.
