Children's Home Society of Washington is the state's oldest statewide, private, not-for-profit organization serving children and families. Our mission is to develop healthy children, create strong families, build engaged communities, and to speak and advocate for children. Each year, the Society serves thousands of children and parents across Washington through a variety of programs.
We are seeking an individual to join CHSW who believes in its mission and is passionate about the services we provide to our consumers. The person must be eager to call into play his/her skills to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

Position: Parent Lead/Coordination

POSITION SUMMARY:
This parent leader will be trained in project coordination through the Somali Leadership Training Project. This position will be responsible for working with Somali Parent Lead/Community Organizers and will help coordinate the leadership trainings. The project goal is to empower and organize individuals within the North-end Somali population, to provide them skills to help them find resources, build partnerships, provide programs to meet their needs, and to advocate for themselves, their families and the Somali community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participates in training workshops and hands-on projects to increase skills in topics such as: strategic planning, setting goals and outcomes, grant writing, budgeting and finance, records and documentation, community outreach, community organizing, marketing, and sustainability
• Helps in recruiting and hiring job candidates for 3 parent lead/community organizers
• Coordinates Leadership training for 3 parent lead/community organizers
• Oversees recruitment of participants for programming, such as English classes, computer training and youth programming
• Oversees outreach and program development in the community

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma/GED (preferred)
• Familiarity with North-end Somali Community (preferred)
• Bilingual in Somali/English
• Able to work flexible hours, some evening or weekend work
• Own transportation (preferred)
