Northern Nevada HOPES, a local non-profit HIV organization, is seeking a skilled, compassionate HIV Prevention Coordinator to coordinate Northern Nevada HOPES Prevention Programs by providing education, outreach and direct services to the community. This position focuses on increasing access to comprehensive medical care, social services and public education programs to community residents at-risk for HIV and hepatitis C. The Prevention Coordinator will conduct HIV/HCV testing and counseling, HIV/STI/Hepatitis risk reduction counseling, and TB testing. The Coordinator will participate in the ongoing assessment and development of prevention education and other services as identified for the community. This position focuses on meeting the needs of high-risk homeless youth, men and women, IDUs, LGBTQI community and others in need of preventative health services.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of HIV, TB, Hepatitis and STI infection
Foundation of client-centered skills, counseling and crisis intervention/management
Experience with Program Development
Significant experience conducting street outreach to vulnerable populations
Possess an understanding of substance use and mental health issues
Well-developed presentation skills and ability to present ideas to diverse audiences
Knowledge of and commitment to the Harm Reduction Model
Ability to attain necessary certification for HIV Testing and Counseling and TB Testing
Team player who is self-motivated, high-energy, and enthusiastic
Ability to take initiative and balance multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent training and supervisory skills
Excellent record-keeping, organizational, and written communication skills
Ability to work well with diverse populations
Flexible hours are required, including some evenings and weekends
Must possess a valid Nevada Drivers License, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation that can be used to conduct agency business
Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
