Part-time Clinical Coordinator (Issaquah)

Friends of Youth is a not for profit organization committed to the support of youth and young adults in our community. With 60 years of experience, 20 program sites, and national accreditation, we provide safe places and emotional support for youth and families in challenging circumstances. Our services include:

-Residential Services, providing therapeutic residential services, including foster care, to youth under 18;
-Homeless Support Services, providing outreach, overnight shelter, case management, employment and housing for homeless youth and young adults in East King County; and
-Youth and Family Services, providing counseling, substance abuse treatment, prevention and parenting programs in East King County.

Friends of Youth has an opening for a Clinical Coordinator. Qualified applicants have a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family or related counseling field, must be licensed and able to provide supervision according to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). This is a part-time position (20 hrs./week) and is available in early April.

Job Description

The Clinical Coordinator/Counselor supervises the Mental Mealth Intern program; supervises counselors working under the Issaquah School District (ISD) contracts; and develops, supervises, and coordinates the Parenting Classes program in Issaquah and the Snoqualmie Valley.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. Education and Experience
1. Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family or related counseling field.
2. Minimum three-five years related experience
3. Current Washington State License in the mental health counseling field.
4. Meet the qualifications to supervise unlicensed therapists according to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC 246-809-234).
5. Experience in counseling children, youth, and families.
6. Experience in leading groups, trainings, and workshops.
7. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.

B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of treatment approaches for individual and family counseling, crisis intervention and brief therapy.
2. Crisis intervention skills.
3. Knowledge of group process.
4. Ability to develop and monitor goal-directed treatment relationships.
5. Parent education skills.
6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including skills of public speaking.
7. Ability to work in a community setting, develop community resources, and market services.
8. Ability to recruit volunteers.
9. Knowledge of relevant COA standards and participation in a Performance and Quality Improvement process.
10. Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural competency.
