Title: Recovery Counselor

Description: Eastside Academy (www.eastsideacademy.org) located in Bellevue, WA, is a non-profit, Christian alternative high school (grades 9 -- 12) for highly at-risk youth.

Purpose of Position: To reach students and families that engage in addiction, with Christ centered curriculum and support. To facilitate on-site recovery classes. To help students engaged in addictive or abusive behaviors build a solid foundation for recovery by making Eastside Academy a safe place to heal.

Relates Closely with: Director of Mental Health and Recovery

Responsible for: Development and Implementation of Christ-centered recovery curriculum and monitoring students recovery

Continuing Responsibilities:

• Assess the needs of chemically dependent students and makes recommendations for treatment
• Provide individual and group drug/alcohol counseling to chemically dependent students
• Provide crisis intervention when needed
• Review all intake histories, assessments, treatment plans
• Maintain a grade book for recovery class students.
• Prepare and maintain student case files
• Stay current on continuing education hours
• Attend staff meetings and school events
• Provide staff and community trainings, along with the Director of Student Services, for addiction and recovery related issues
• Facilitate after school recovery groups and activities as needed

• Mature Christian
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Heart for at-risk youth
• Be able to live in harmony with the core values and affirmations of the Eastside Academy
• Spend daily quality time in prayer and Bible study
• LMHCA or LMFTA or equivalent experience in Biblical Counseling

Top Three Measurable Priorities for coming year:

• Set-up, maintain and update all student files
• In collaboration with supervisor, develop curriculum and lessons plans for recovery classes.
• Keep all Eastside Academy staff aware of a students' progress weekly throughout the school year

Salary: $33-40,000
Approximate Time Required by Position: 40-45 hours per week
Accompanying Benefits: medical and dental insurance, vacation; regular school holidays and 3 weeks summer vacation
