Job Summary: This position will work half the time in the gym & games room and the other half with the teens in the teen center. The schedule will vary every other week. Under the direct supervision of the Branch Director and Senior Program Assistant, the Recreation/Teen Program Assistant plans, implements, supervises daily REC and GAMES ROOM activities including games, sports, skill development, tournaments, on-the-spot fun, as well as running high-yield learning activities through recreation. The Rec Program Assistant will also research opportunities for field trips with Club members, as well as introducing them to sports from around the world. The Rec Program Assistant may also need to cover other staff areas as needed. Cleaning and up-keep of the gym and games room is also required, along with decoration and monitoring of recreation supplies. This position will also work half of the time in the the teen center where activities include: rec/games room as well as technology, art, education and our homework-help program. The Program Staff will work closely with other staff members to cultivate recognition programs within their own area, as well as throughout the Club.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent; College education preferred. Work-Study students highly encouraged to apply.

Experience: Minimum of one year working directly with youth; Boys & Girls Club experience preferred, but not required. Spanish speaking is a plus!

Required Skills:
MUST ENJOY WORKING WITH YOUTH!
Program development geared to ages 5-18, especially related to youth enhancement programs.
Knowledge of youth development principals and developmental characteristics.
Creativity and flexibility.
Ability to plan, organize, and mange programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Interpersonal skill development.
Data Analysis, record keeping and reporting
CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day to day activities; superior interpersonal and negotiation skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment. Excellent communication skills. Physical requirements include: site, hearing, standing for more than four hours each day and other physical requirements needed to complete essential functions of the position.
